Thrifty Christmas Challenge

Larri at Seams Inspired wrote this post last week, which was in a  similar vein to my handmade Christmas vow.  If you want to be part of a thrifty Christmas you can join in too because Larri is going to have a page on her blog where you can showcase your fabulous finds/ creations. You might just do one or two handmade gifts, and want to show them off. I'm so excited by this idea and can't wait to participate.

Since I'm planning to work on some handmade/thrifted  presents this year , I was wondering how I'd show you all my glorious progress without family finding out my plans because Miss Pyjamas, Sister of Pyjamas and Patty (Mother of Pyjamas ) read my blog. Problem solved. I've created a second blog just for Christmas. Patty and SOP you can't go over there. SAJ you have to stay away too. Ditto Miss P- and  anyone I work with. Little P if you're reading this post - I'm inclined to tell you that it's not for your eyes either, but frankly if you're able to read this post you're a child prodigy at 15 months of age  and you can do what you like.

I'll post here when I have a post there which at this stage will be on Thrifty Christmas Tuesday.  You'll be able to find me here. I hope you'll stop by.  Unless you're family ..or a friend...or someone I work with. You can stay away.

Lol! You really are getting into the Christmas spirit with a special Christmas blog! Fortunately I'm not related to you and can read it! (Don't underestimate little P. One of my daughters could read before she went to school and I had no clue. The reception teacher discovered it. She asked me how long I thought she might have been reading. She started "reading" the Advertiser every day when she was 16 months old. Who knows when she started reading!) Little P, don't visit that blog!

Wow, a handmade X-mas...well I was gonna follow that, but blogspot won`t let me at the moment. God knows why!!
But since you are going to tell us whenever something new happens i ´ll try again .-)

Great idea! So, do you really think the people you've said can't go read your other page will really not go read it? (Um, if it were me you were not allowing to visit that page, I'd be there anyway - my curiosity is stronger than my morals.)

I was thinking of boycotting Christmas this year, but now maybe I won't just so I can do a post-along (lol). You are too awesome.

Ooh! I'm so happy you're going to participate! :o) I had hoped to post my thrifty finds earlier today. Alas, I had to have my eyes dilated to check a nevus on my optic nerve. Doesn't that sound fun? I'm still a little blurry-eyed. I hope I'm typing with the right keys. I like Thrifty Tuesday! I'll plan on that too. :o) Oh, and the page is up for anyone who wants to join in! It's at the top right of my page. Hope to see y'all over there! Larri at Seams Inspired

Fuck. I'm a friend so I can't go there, huh? Or wait, maybe that's a "hooray" I can't go there, she's making me something!

Oh, okay, okay. I get it. REAL LIFE friends. I see how I rate.

Bitch.

Send me your address, I have something for you that I just need to get out of my house, even if I'm allowed to go to the other blog, and it's just cause I love you. (Or because I'm dieting and I can't have it in my home and want to live vicariously!)

:D Missed you this week!

So cool! I would love to be able to do this. I do have one little thing I'm making for someone for Christmas. Fortunately, it's mostly done, so I should have no trouble finishing it after we're settled. It's my number 1 quilting priority. But I won't be showing it off for the same reasons you mentioned.

I think I would trust everyone in your family other than Baby P. Those little humans can't be trusted! I think this is a great idea and will be making many Christmas presents this year. I am not sure I am up to starting a new blog - I am having difficulty with the one I have now! I think I will blame it on Big - I don't know why exactly - I just don't want to accept responsiblity for being a slacker!

I gave up attempting to make gifts for Christmas once I didn't have art class at school. I have had absolutely no luck with getting Christmas presents done since then. I made a new attempt last year, but the LAQ overcommitted and wasn't able to get to my Christmas quilts until February.

That won't stop me from checking out your Christams blog. I wish you great success!!!

A great idea, which I would love to do, but as my crafty mojo is more off than on these days, I'm not sure whether it would be a good plan for me. I will live vicariously through your efforts. Maybe I could whip up something very small and quick to finish, don't know what though so I'll have to put my thinking cap on.
Yay I was the first one to sign up to your new blog I was so excited I forgot to leave a comment, so better late than never!
Love Bec's comments.

You give presents to your friends at work? You're going to be very busy-
can't wait to live vicariously through your craftiness.

Last year I tried to gift a little non-traditionally and since we drew names, I gave my husband's sister, her husband and their daughter some interesting things -

a few new things, bought traditionally

a "homemade" - the makings of one of their favorite dinners

some "new to them things"- cute outfits our girls had outgrown, a baby swing we had in the attic, and a food dehydrator - also lurking in our attic.
it was kind of fun and garnered a lot of laughs! :)

thanks for indulging our creativity, can't wait to see what you come up with!

i like the idea of a thrifty Christmas...even when we may be able to spend $$$, why not take the challenge of quality, hand-made lovely gifts and decor? yay!
