A Post for Patty

My Mum called me yesterday to comment about my lack of quality posts of late. Apparently I've been boring the pants off my own Mum with my repetitive sewing posts. So this newsy post is especially for Mother of Pyjamas so she can see I do things other than sew.

On Friday night I dragged my sorry bum home from a week at work around 5.30pm and had my pyjamas on by 5.35 pm. When Mr.  P arrived home I told him I had no intention of cooking dinner in 95 degree heat and sent him out on an important mission to bring me back a triple cheeseburger. He also had strict instructions to check the burger before he left Macca's because they already ripped me off once this week by giving me a double instead of a triple. I was too lazy to go back the first time because 1 patty of mystery meat really isn't worth my time. Yeah- I ate McDonald's twice this week. We also got chicken takeaway for tea another night, and I was out for dinner Tuesday. I'm planning to snatch the crown of Queen of Not Cooking from my sister.

Mr. P came back with the last instalment of Harry Potter on DVD and my maccas and I subsequently discovered that the Hamburgler had stolen one of my three meat patties again. Either that or Ronald McDonald has decided four bits of pickle  (which I don't eat ) = 1 meat patty. Seriously you can count to three using your fingers. You don't have to have a maths degree. How hard can it be to get it right?

Saturday morning I woke at sparrow fart (that's Aussie for before dawn)  and full of good intentions. By the time my Mum called  at 2.30 pm I was still in my pyjamas and I hadn't achieved a damn thing for the day besides commenting on 30 blog posts,  harassing Indy and Lola , and  laying in bed playing with my I pad. I kidded myself that I was productive by putting on two loads of washing while I listened to Mr. P scrub the bathroom and deciding my help would hinder his progress.

By 3.30 I was sick of myself and dragged myself out shopping. I saw these cute glass birds in the window of this shop  when I was out for dinner on Tuesday and had to go back and get them. The lady looked quite taken aback when I said I'd take every single one they had. For a moment I thought she was going to refuse but she must have seen the murderous glint in my eye because she went and wrapped them up in tissue paper without further comment. FYI - I bought 7.

And while I was there I spied this felted handmade chicken basket from Nepal and had to buy that too.

I did some Christmas shopping for Little P. Every little boy wants a pirate puppet and who doesn't love Shaun the Sheep?

Then I came home with the brilliant idea of making a quilt cover for our bed which meant I had to drag my fabric out and throw it all over the floor to see what it might look like if I ever find the time (and motivation) to work on something for longer than 10 minutes again.  I'm still thinking about it. And the fabric is still on the floor.

Last night  Mr. P and I went to see a movie (In Time with Justin Timberlake - very good actually!) and then when we got home I started some pyjamas for Miss P . I lost interest after one leg. I think pressing in those pleats took it out of me.  So she's either going to have to wait until I feel like doing the other leg or walk round with half her bits hanging out.

We had some of the family round for Sunday breakfast this morning so that meant running round for 30 frenzied minutes from 8.10 - 8.40am  trying to make our house look habitable before everyone arrived. It's amazing what you can achieve in a short time span and how you can make a filthy floor look good with a chux wipe. While everyone was here I sewed some more on my hexie flowers, promised my sister in law a pair of pyjama bottoms and waxed lyrical about how fabulous my I pad is.

After everyone left we went and did some more Christmas shopping...which I cant show you because Miss P and my sister and other nameless people do sneak in  here every so often to see if they're being mentioned.  So I'll just show you what I bought for myself.

I had three spare inches of hanging space in my wardrobe that is now filled and I feel complete.

I spent the afternoon wrestling with socks while watching a DVD but since this post is already way too long and I have visions of everyone falling asleep while reading , I'm going to thrill you with that  story in my Tuesday post. I do hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. Did you know it's only 35 sleeps until Christmas?  Time to panic!

That is so funny that your mum called to tell you to do better at blogging.......I got a good laugh out of that one. As for Christmas, can I get through Thanksgiving first.....that is 4 sleeps from now.

I don't know why, but I am now tired after reading your post..your Mum must be proud now :)

Your posts always exhaust me. I like the dresses.

Nice dresses...but what is Christmas? I decided we will simply skip x.mas this year. Maybe if I ignore it, it won´t happen. Works with other things!

I was enjoying your post until you mentioned the number of days until Christmas then you sucked the joy right out of me! You can tell your mum that my dad refers to my quilting/fabric posts as 'boring drivel'. Nice! Good thing he lives on a different continent.

Hahaha I love your mom telling you what to post!

My parents don't read my blog! But my grandma does!!

Looks like lots of fun going on it there and pretty new clothes all round.
No time to panic here - too busy.
Enjoy your week.

Well, at least you're keeping busy enough to blog about it, LOL! Glad your shopping skills have not lost their touch. The birdies are so cute!

Wish my hubby voluntarily scrubbed a bathroom...

So, what's Patty's reaction?

Brilliant :-)

Giggled from start to finish. I hope your mom is happier now.

I had written a way longer comment than this but then hit the wrong key and managed to delete it all so now you've got the shortened version... apart from to say I was very taken with the term 'sparrow fart' and had managed to use it three times in one sentence. Now I've only used it once lol.

Pretty dresses!

ps McDonalds always get our order wrong too - it must be a global thing...

That sounds like a busy weekend to me! Pretty glass birds and lovely clothes. You just reminded me that I was ging to get Christmas presses organised this weekend, oops, they'll have to wait till next weekend now.

I hope the P Mother enjoyed your post, I was really enjoying reading this until you mentioned Christmas. Yuck I'm so not ready this year, and I can't see me being any more readier in 34 sleeps either.
It took me back to the days of Slack Tea Thursdays too, I miss them, but it seems you have taken Slack Tea to a whole new level now.
Your shopping sprees definitely paid off, there's some nice loot in there. Love the glass birds and Mr P is going to have to take you out wining, dining and romancing so that you can wear those lovely dresses.

So what's wrong with only sewing related blogging. I think I am in Christmas denial. Have 3 teachers pressies to make and the machine really needs to go in for a service, might have to crank out Squid's Janome for them this weekend because if I don't drop the machine in this week it isn't going to be done before Xmas holidays and then I will leave it for another year. even though you lazed around in bed for most of the day you still packed a lot into your weekend.

Tee hee. You better pick your game up girl and stop boring your Mother. Great shopping! I am also in denial about Christmas. Every year I imagine it will be diffferent but no matter how we move it around or mix it up...MIL has always got the sulks on about something....Why do we do it!!!! This is wahat happens when you marry an 'only' child.

I am joining Sara with the lalalanotlistening! Love those dresses and the felt chook is adorable! I was in Spotlight looking at quilting fabric but that is as far as I got....its so confusing :-)

Ahh this did make me smile! So much to relate to.. maccas twice in a week, fooling myself into belief of productivity by putting on a load of washing. Excellent! I hope your Mum was suitably impressed with your not crafty post :)

A very productive weekend. What a hoot that your Mum calls to complain about the content of your blog! However, I think it's wonderful!

Love the nickname for McDonald's. We go with Micky D's or Mac-Do.

Those birds are super cute. Successful shopping all around.

I didnt fall asleep I read it with delight knowing there is another procrastinator out there lol

I like seeing your shopping haul. Those birds are incredible. Will we see how you display them, or are they gifts? The dresses are super cute! I don't have occasion to wear dresses often, but if I were there, I'd be begging to try yours on.

First, I LOVE the dresses! WOW, the last one is my fave.

Seriously? McDonalds left out a patty AGAIN? That is insane. I HATE the warm floppy pickles on those things - I laughed out loud at you considering that they must count them as a patty. I just still can't believe they messed you over again. We recently banned McDonalds from our list - not for any health reasons, but just because it's gross. Every time, no matter what, I hate what I'm eating. So Wendys and Chik-Fil-A it is! ;)

I don't think your sewing posts are boring - you could talk about dirt and still manage to crack me up (for REAL), but I do thank your mum for making you write this post. It was fun!

Your posts always makes me smile, Shay! And this one is no exceptions.

Um..., are you sure hubby isn't eating one of the burger patties on the way home? Hmmmm...? LOL!

Marti said...

LOL, so funny, and hit so close to home.

Tell your mum that commenting on blogs is very time-consuming. I am catching up on a month's worth of blog reading and commenting, have been at it for four hours and barely made a dent in the blogs I usually read.

Sorry the hamburgler got your 3rd meat. They usually add unwanted stuff to mine, like mayo or something else that drips on my shirt.

Helsie said...

Now what on earth are you going to do with SEVEN glass birds? I can't wait to hear!
I'm amazed you haven't rung Maccas and complained...
.... and the dresses are very nice indeed. For Christmas parties?
Cheers

How you get so much done in your PJ's continues to baffle me. At least you Mum reads your blog, mine isn't really sure what one is. I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, I don't get pestered to post pictures of Kiddo, I just get badgered when I go home for some.

Love the dresses.

Your dresses are really nice, and those glass birds are wonderful...I take it they are to decorate the xmas table?

I dont know how anyone can find your blog boring....I laugh my head off every time I read them...keep up the good work.

Do you find that when you are dressed and the house is sparkling no one ever visits...but leave one bed unmade or dishes on the sink and they all pour in.

I hope Santa brings me an i-pad. I recently made fun of Steve Jobs a little bit on someone else's blog, though, so I'm not sure if I've been good or bad. I think it depends on your sense of humor. Pretty dresses, Shay!

Love the new dresses and the newsy report! (We call it "The butt-crack of dawn" at our house)

I am determined to not panic. I've actually got quite a bit of making and buying done, so I think I'll be fine. And yeah, I LOVE Shaun the Sheep.

WOW! Mum is really getting into the blogging... when she calls you up to complain...she should start her a blog and join us. You sound like me starting something and not finishing it ...leaving fabric on the floor..one of my doing. What are you going to do with the 7 birds...I’m nosy. Have a great Thanksgiving. Blessing Trish

The number one rule of the drive-thru is check your order before you drive away from the window.

Those dresses are SO cute! I love them! I'll bet you look amazing in them!

Shaun the Sheep is awesome and those little glass birds are so cute. Only, I would have bought six. I don't know why, but I have this thing about pairs. I'm psycho that way.

Sparrow fart, huh? That is funny. I'll have to remember that.

Love, love your ramblings :) And I will have to remember the term "sparrow fart" when I get up early for my morning walk tomorrow!
