Slack Tea Thursday

Forgive me blog buddies for I have been absent this week and not commenting on your blogs nearly often enough. I  have learned that while you may feel fabulous schlepping round home recovering from whooping cough , when you return to work where schlepping is frowned upon you must run run run all day and when you get home you are very very tired. And guess what? You're not allowed to wear your pyjamas to work!  I have also been busy turning another year older.

Mr. P is a wonderful man but on special occasions he always forgets important things  like cake or celebratory cards. Last time I had a cake I didn't have to organise myself was in about 1987.

This week Mr. P bought a cake. And a card.  Without prompting or reminders or hints being dropped. I almost died from shock.

Apparently my name is Wife.

So slack tea tonight is the birthday cake we should have eaten Tuesday but which we ignored because we  were all too stuffed from eating out at the local steak house to be bothered with. I suspect that will be the first and last time Mr. P buys me birthday cake since even I couldnt be bothered eating this on my actual birthday. Only because I had about 1/2 a kilo of steak and 2 pounds of curly fries at Hog's Breath. Birthday girls dont have to eat vegetables or salad. It's the golden rule of birthdays.

And apparently you can eat what you like during your birthday week and not put on one ounce of weight. That's good news isn't it because I'm halfway through this cake.

And in case you're interested, I turned 36 this birthday having decided when I turned 40 I would start counting backwards. I cant wait to be 30 at 50!

Mmmmmm mandarin and passionfruit cake. Early dinner. I have sewing to do.

Earlier in the week, I showed you what I got up to last weekend, and asked for guesses as to what I was  planning to do with the picture frame. The correct answer is of course, a Bulletin Board (which we call a pin up board here in Australia). 4 of you guessed the correct answer.  I assigned each of you a number and video called Miss P  who was in the loungeroom (yep we're pretty lazy ) and asked her to choose a number between 1 and 4.  She chose number 3 which is Deb from Quiltgal.

So Deb, if you email me your snail mail addy I'll pop your parcel in the post! Congratulations.

Oooohhh and I got a webcam and skype for my birthday, among many other things. Email me your skype address and we can chat. I'm so technological now!

Cake looks yummy I have been in need of cake, chocolate or whatever all day... settled on low fat gelati even though I really need some of the fattening stuff though the tyres round my waste do not. I have had a webcam in my mac we did work out how to take silly photo's and morph them and that is about it haven't tried the skype business yet. Very impressed with your level of technolgicality.

Mmm...that cake looks wonderful! Mr. P. probably wants to make sure he lives up to being your favorite thing. I would says he succeeded.

Happy belated birthday! Tomorrow, I turn 39. Really. After that, I'm not sure which direction I'll go...

I'm glad you are allowed to eat whatever you want during your bday week. Last week I had cinnamon coffee cake for dinner. I've been eating poorly all week because I'm in a hotel and I'm too lazy to seek out healthy foods. Unfortunately, my belly seems to be swelling - I think that "don't gain an ounce" story is a myth!

Yeah, I guessed correctly. Congrats to Deb on the giveaway.

Ms. P, I'm sorry you are still feeling blah but def. take some time to chill in the pyjamas over the weekend. It will help this finally pass.

Oh, and one other thing. I came across this site and for the name alone, thought you should know about it.

ps - Happy Birthday!

Mr. P chose a beautiful cake! What a perfect treat for Slack Tea Thursday. Although I'm a bit worried about the fruit in it. Is that slack enough?

Sorry to hear that work is kicking your butt. Seems they ought to let a gal with the whoopy cough schlepp around a little.

Congrats to Deb! Those are some yummy fabrics she's getting.

Happy 36! ;-)

Awwww sorry work stinks. (Not sure now if that's what you said?) Maybe I'm sorry that you stink at work? Whatever. Know that I am sorry!

I love that you call someone in the next room to talk to them. We do that too. (Hey! We get free calls to our family. Why would they give us free calls if they didn't mean us to use them like that?) Yup. Lazy here too.

Hope your week picks up. Oh! It's bound to. Tomorrow is Friday!!!

Happy birthday! I think I remember being 36.. I for sure remember turning 40. It was traumatic but the day after I turned 40 I realized I didn't feel any different so it's been okay since then. Your cake looks delicious. Glad you had a nice birthday.

mr. p. did a fine job on the cake and treats ... there are two rules of birthdays -- 1) eat what you want and 2) automatic vacation day !

happy birthday !!

Thanks so much for picking my name or should I thanks Miss P.

I was such a nice pick me up because I too am suffering from a cold (sinus infection) and feeling lousy.

Please include your name and return address and I will send something back to you from my stash.

I am so thrilled to win something I want to give something back to you. Thanks again Deb

A very happy (and belated) birthday to you!!! You will be pleased to know that I went away for a holiday to celebrate your birthday!! Yep, I'm that kinda girl! I had a lovely time, swimming and walking on the beach and eating out every night! I celebrated your birthday in style and enjoyed every minute of it!!
Seriously, I do hope you are feeling much better now and whatever you did to make your hubby remember your birthday ... will you please tell the rest of us - I have to write my birthday on the fridge whiteboard!!
I'm not that into cake, but the steak and curly fries is the way to go!!
I think you should just continue having your birthday EVERY day until you are feeling 100% ! You deserve it!

What a crappy week to be feeling sick! The cake looks so moist and delish, even a couple of days later! So, did you get a big steak for your birthday dinner?

Enjoy your webcam!

hope you have a good (and restful) weekend!
