A mixed bag

It's been a challenging week so I'm wandering in here for a little whinge and whine. Please feel free to wander out again until half way through the post.

Our automatic sprinkler system decided to stop functioning so we've had to replace hoses and sprinkler heads. The heads that we were told would fit didn't, and we ended up having to buy ones that were twice as expensive. $150.00 for three sprinkler heads is a bit rude in my opinion.

Mr. P's car needed new tyres which are obviously essential and wasn't unexpected but spending the cash for a full new set still bites. To add insult to injury the very day we got them fitted the water pump went on the car so we're in the process of having that replaced. And then , just to really piss me off , we discovered the alternator is stuffed too.

Last night we had a temporary internet outage just as I went to write this post.  Now our wireless internet wont work. I'm typing this from our actual computer. I'm hoping Mr. P can just re-set the modem or something ( I don't understand these things at all ) because if we have to buy a new modem I think I'm going  to have a complete meltdown. At the moment my I pad is virtually useless and I'm starting to suffer Jewel Mania withdrawal.

This space is where I was hoping to show you pictures of the basted Superheroes quilt. That was on my list of things to do last night when I got home from work. At 7.30 I went to find my clips and clamps so I could get started and I couldn't find them anywhere ....a frenzied search ensued with no success (during which I threw a minor tantrum and used the word "ludicrous" a lot to describe their disappearance ) Eventually I gave up. The last time I saw them it was Christmas and I am starting to suspect they got inadvertently thrown out with the wrapping paper or something. Either that or one of my family members has kleptomania.  Not being able to find them put a huge crimp in my plans so I'm going to dash out today in my lunch break to buy some new ones. Wanna bet I'll trip over the missing ones as soon as I get home tonight?

In happier news, I've  actually made significant progress this week on that MASSIVE list of things I want to get done before the end of February.

I completed the Superheroes quilt back. Let's hope I can get it to lay flat when I start basting. One spot looks a little dodgy.

I reached my goal of 15 more hexie blocks for the recycled shirt quilt. I am so over these blocks at the moment. Hopefully I'll regain my love for them in March which is when I plan to finish the last 10.

The blue blocks for Little P’s quilt top got finished this week.

The last hexie flower got done. I expect cheers and clapping from you all for this incredible achievement.

And I've started picking the paper out of the hexies. Worst. Job. Ever.

Goals for this week:
  • Slap on my happy face
  • Baste Superheroes quilt and start the quilting
  • Finish 10 more blocks for Little P's Superheroes quilt top
  • Pick the paper out of  10 more hexie flowers
  • Buy fabric for the chair re-do ( I think I have my final choice nailed, I just have to get over the shock of the massive increase in US postage costs before I commit to hitting the buy button)

Cheers and applause on the hexies! You know you're going to find those clips, not tonight, but tomorrow night, after you've opened all the packages. Be well. Lane

Well, all that bad stuff sucks. I'd have taken to my bed with my iPad, and then cried when I couldn't connect with it. Fondle fabric and breathe deep. Chocolate helps too.

deep breath... hold... release slowly... THEN go out side and ... SCREAM LOUDLY .. ahh! feel better now? lol xx

Yay for the last hexie! And everything else.

To clarify, that's yay for the things you finished. Not yay for the things you had to purchase.

Just breathe ... in.. out..in.. out. If that doesn't work I recommend hitting something.. preferably something soft that doesn't hit back!!!

So like that right-one thing you fix and four more confront you. It is no fun spending on cars...far more fun to spend on fabric and goodies :). Love your hexy quilt!

If it's true that bad things come in threes, then at least you're done, right?

I really like your hexie blocks, and your grandmother's flower garden. What kind of paper do you use on them? I haven't found it hard to take the paper out, but maybe I use a different kind - just plain computer paper. Yours look better than mine though.

Try unplugging your modem, leave it for a couple of minutes then plug it back in. I have done that and it worked so worth a try. Love all the things you have been working on. Hugs....

Perhaps Mercury is retrograde, to account for all the setbacks. I am in the final assembly of my own recycled shirt quilt, so I sympathize. Although I feel better seeing that the end is near, and will feel even better yet once it's done. I do love the look of your shirt hexies! Something about the plaids in that configuration gives them a new zing. I think you're going to really like it when it's finished.

Well crap on the first chunk of the week, things can only get better the nearer it gets to Friday... I hear you on the postage costs, not least because of late Customs have been rather overefficient...

Happy basting and quilting.

I hate cars and losing stuff and sprinkler heads breaking .. and computer issues on top of it all. but I didn't hear any swear words. If that were me, there would have been loads, ludicrous is not one of them.

Sorry about all that. loving the superheroes back - how big is it? it looks huge. such great progress this week. as for the hexies .. they look great.

Hooray! (Sounds of clapping in the background) You have gotten so much done despite life throwing all it has at you. Nice job. And if you can't whinge to us then really what is the point of life? You've got a cheer squad here. (Go Shay go! Anyone know any other chants?)

Wow! You did good this week!

So sorry about the darn car. Why car repairs seem to come in triplicate I'll never understand. It has to be one of these universal laws or something.

Bummer about the car, I can sympathise.....we're spending heaps on ours this week. You are slowly working through the hexies....

What a string of bad luck! Boooooo.

On the plus side, you are kicking butt on that superhero quilt! I love it! :)

As my former boss used to say, "Fake smiles work!" Hope that they do, for you :) Lots of great quilty stuff even if the RL adventures are rather teeth gnashing at the moment.

They say things come in threes (or more). It can only get better. Like your Hexys. Sharyn:)

Doesn't it just suck when the house and the car turn against you and demand money be thrown at them...hope it got better and your modem just needed the reset button to be employed...well done on making progress on your to do list though and it's not even the whole of half way through February...and remember when all else fails...chocolate, salt & vinegar chips and frog cakes...

at least the sewing looks to be going with the schedule. Don't you hate financial weeks like that, it always runs in 3's.

Woo hoo on finishing the hexies, but what a bummer of a week you've had. It can only get better.
Despite all the crap you have done really well on the sewing front, so focus on that rather than the other crap.
I'd come and help removing the papers, but by the time I get there you'll have finished. You could have waited.

Hope your week gets better.. Love your shirts blocks! Nice work on the heros quilt, Little P is going to love it. I'm curious with your hexie flowers, are you stitching them all together? because wouldn't you leave the paper in until they're stitched all around?

Hip hip hooray! Dont panic I do believe one of your good friends is bringing Oreos on Saturday...hopefully that brings the planets into alignment and your quilting will be perfect, the clips will turn up and the mechanic will win Lotto and treat all his best customers to a holiday in Fiji!
Love your work, VERY impressed with your achievements this week...I have just unpicked hand sewn blocks (didnt cry though) and cleaned toilets - although I consider both actions make me eligible for the Noble Peace Prize.

I'm sorry so much is going wrong... and at the same time. That Sucks! Now that is out of your system - on to fun stuff.

I've been browsing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's
pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made
good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful
than ever before.

Yeah, postage REALLY went up. It sucks here too.

Now I understand the superheroes quilt -- an homage to the Australian Wonder Woman. You amazing me!

Hooray for that last hexie flower! Good for you!
