Favourite Things Friday

After my Rip Van Winkle experience last Friday where I fell asleep instead of going to the Post office to pick up a VIP (very important parcel ) I finally got there Monday after spending a torturous weekend having something so excitingly close but inaccessible. I didn't take any chances on Monday. I went before work instead. I thought it unlikely I'd accidentally fall asleep at 9 am.

And my parcel was there !Oh Happy Day!

And when I opened the box this is what was inside.

This is what I've been using for the last 5 years. It makes and receives calls and occasionally lets you send a text. Except that the buttons are so small and close together that if you have fat little fingers (like me ) your text often ended up reading like it was sent in a language other than English . Example: "I will meet you at the shops"often looked like  "I woll mert yot at tge shpps" . I rarely texted because it was a complete waste of time. Nobody knew what I was trying to say anyway.

This week I joined the legions of people who have a phone that wasn't made when tin cans and string were all the rage for communication. And since I've  already become proficient in swiping and poking screens because of my Ipad I didn't have to go and get a degree in technology before I made my first call. And when someone calls me birds chirp. So freaking cute !

I have the internet on there and everything! In fact I have lots of everythings on there I have no idea how to use.

But I'm going to have fun playing with it all. Assuming my smart phone isn't evil and isn't plotting to take over the world the second I touch the "start countdown sequence" button.

So this little pile of technology has been my favourite thing this week. What about you? Any favourites to share?

Lol, I had a similar experience when I got mine a couple of months ago, and now I'm scarily addicted to it!

I wanted an IPhone for years and the family just mocked me and said I would never figure it our and wouldn't use it. But I finally got one and love it!

I have a Galaxy too and I love, love, love it. One of the best things about it is I can sit down and play "Words with Friends" whenever I am waiting somewhere and the time passes pleasantly while I wait.

You will love it! I have just replaced my Galaxy S2 with the S3, I'm even more in love with it.

Passing on my S2 to a techno phobic someone - I told them it will change their life, they don't believe me.

Fun favorite! DT has declared us to be living in the dark ages since no one in the family (in particular DT) has a smart phone.

i'm smiling because my phone is so old ("how old is it?") ... i do not text, don't take pictures, and don't remember my phone number without looking.

that reminds me ... the last time i received a voicemail i had to do a password re-set ... and if i lose the scrap of paper with that doggone password, i'll be stuck again.

i hope you don't fool any birds when your phone rings ... you'll have sparrows gathering.

Smart phones are the best, love my iphone would be lost without it. I think the next version will be released when my phone is out of contract and i might just upgrade and hand mine off to another family member, probably my hubby because he can't cope with his half smart phone and takes my iphone when he wants to play games. Have fun playing with your new gadget, new technology is the best ftf. I am busy folding patterns tonight, I'll try and play a bit later.

I'm leaving a comment with my smart phone and you'll probably read it using your smart phone.. Have lots of fun getting to know your new best friend.

I have a friend who has really fat fingers and I can't figure how he texts as the iphone pad is so small for his fingers.
I have a Samsung phone. It could be set up for texting, but I'm not there yet. I will get a Samsung when updating as the battery life is twice the length of iphone which irks me no end due to every sheeple having one! Well here in North America that is.

my iPhone changed my life and that's no joke. I'm not sure what I would do without it. Have a great Friday or what's left of it!

I do not have a wonderful phone like yours, but I am seriously thinking about it. The Baby has one and I love the photos it takes. Her favorite thing to do with her phone is track her sleeping habits. Not sure why, but she young! You are one lucky girl!

Geesh! I screwed up with my first link! What a shock! can you delete #6? I think #7 is right. Could be wrong on that too! Thanks and love ya!

I entered the world of smartphones a few short months ago and have a Samsung nexus s. Love it but don't use half the functions. Have you downloaded Swype?? Well worth it...

One day I'm gonna be like you, a smartie with a smart phone. Until then, it's still cans and string for me...well, maybe a step above that, but not by much. I inherently know certain things are not good for me in terms of my already-dwindling attention span and level of productivity, and phones which do much more than allow me to talk and fat-finger text are one of those things(also Facebook and Pinterest). But you enjoy the heck out of that phone, because when I need help moving into the current century with my next one, I'll know who to call!

Enjoy the new technology.
Birds chirping huh - that could be interesting in spring?

Well look at you sister! Congrats! I'm still stuck in the 90's with my crappy phone. But once my son is on his own plan, I'm movin up....which should be soon. Enjoy all your smartness. I don't know how you're gonna get any smarter, but it will happen. :o)

I'm so happy for you. I haven't taken that leap yet, but I have a feeling I will before long. Enjoy!

How cool is that! I'm still trying to figure out mine and it isn't as smart as yours.

If you put your smart phone in your back pocket, does that make you a smart arse?

All kidding aside, I love your new phone! And a I'm going to have to look into a bird chirping ring tone, because that sounds like so much fun!
