Fabric Love and Quilty Things

Anyone who is obsessed with fabric understands that as soon as fabric arrives you're planning to cut it for the next quilt-even if you have five  quilts on the go already. New fabric  arrived this week in my PO box and I'm itching to start something new,  but I think I'd better finish one of my WIP's first. ( I give that resolution about a week because I already have several quilty visions running through my head )

More Christmas Fabric  to go with the layer cake that arrived last month. This is Robert Kaufman -Sparkly Christmas. It's just so funky and happy. Not sure how to do the layer cake and fat quarter pack justice in a Christmas quilt but I have an idea of what to do with those jelly roll bits.

I love fat quarter packs they always look so pretty  all stacked up.

I went mad on Hallmark Evergreen Ornaments fat quarter bundles. I bought two. At this point I am seriously questioning whether I have a Christmas obsession. You should see my stack of Christmas fabric (it's hidden in the sewing studio away from Mr. P. I love calling my sewing studio a studio rather than a room. It just sounds so much more crafty and like I actually know what I'm doing in there)

And I bought matching stuff to do a backing and I even bought contrasting fabric  for the binding . Wow! I was on fire the day I ordered this ..usually I worry about the backing later and then curse the fact I can't find anything that works. I'm looking for some Hushabye at the moment due to this disorganised approach to quilting and fabric purchasing.

And oh my goodness....

I'm completely kicking my own arse that I didn't buy three of these Rumba fat Quarter packs  instead of one. I LOVE this fabric. I'm imagining this as simple squares with chocolate sashing. I really wish I knew how much I would love it when I saw it in person.  How freaking cute are these birds?

I'm biting the bullet and joining in the Friday Night Sew In hosted by Handmade by Heidi next Friday night, July 23rd.  Click on the picture in my sidebar if you want to play too. I've never done a sew in before. Should be fun!

And here is s snippet of what I've been up to in the sewing studio the  last couple of weeks...yes that's a crafty  mess.  All will be revealed in a forthcoming post!

I am seriously glad it's Friday.

I'm sorry I don't think that qualifies as a mess!!

Have fun in your studio with all the lovelies that you have acquired for just that purpose.

Can't wait to see what becomes of the gorgeous Christmas fabrics.

Enjoy your weekend.

I have to agree, those birds are adorable! Can't wait to see what you do with them.

Ooooh love all your fabric, those birds are so cute, but I DO NOT need to buy any more fabric. If I say it to myself often enough I might actually believe it.
The Friday Night Sew In sounds great, but after my snowball debacle I think I will give this one a miss, I don't want more people reading my posts of quilting disasters filled with swearing.

I love the Rumba's too!

The fabrics are just gorgeous eye candy! I hope you can resist long enough to show us the WIP you're working on. I plan to get a top quilted THIS WEEK because now it is finally hot enough here that my backwards logic says I need a sewing session with lapful of quilt. Have fun with the sew in!

OOh - yummy, delicious fabrics galore! I am feeling the need to FINISH several of the (12+) already started/purchased projects done before I start buying more delicious fabrics. (Sigh). I am totally feelin' the "Friday" thing, now that I'm working! (The good news is, now that I'm working, I'll be able to BUY more fabric than before!

Mrs. P, your craft mess looks like so much fun! Can I come over and play too!?! I love all those fabrics you got in the mail!

Also, since I'm an enabler, try http://www.quiltshops.com/ for finding more Hushabye for your snowball quilt. I typed it in and 200 links came up. The shops are all in the US, but if they won't ship to you, you can have your order shipped to me and I'll send it along with your pinks and browns.

Seriously. I want to come over and play. That Christmas fat quarter pack is just calling my name.

P.S. I wonder how my family would feel if I started calling the living room {where I've got my machine set up on a folding table my studio.

Great taste in fabrics! Love them all. Too bad Rumba isn't available, or I'd have to be a copycat.

I am so in love with those fabrics that I am seriously contemplating taking up quilting! Especially, the birds pattern!! Of course, it would just sit here as another one of my obsessions that never gets finished!

Hi...I'm Donna from NC, USA. I also share a love of fabrics. I use to watch my mother buy fabric and put it away and think why is she buying that? Now I SO understand! Happy quilting!

I have not read your full post yet! I will go back in a minute and read it. I am linking to your site in a new post.

Just had to break in and say "I WANT THAT BIRD FABRIC!!!!"

Ok, now I have calmed down and read the entire post. I am seriously in love with every one of the fabrics. I love to touch new fabric and rub it all over my body - oh, sorry, did I just say that out loud?!?!

Back to quilting. I often wonder why it is so much more fun to buy and plan than it is to sew? I started to make a list of current projects and stopped when I hit 20! Those are projects that are started, not just in my head or that I bought fabric for. Can't wait to see what you do with the Christmas fabric.

I will think about the sew in! Care to join me in 100 Blessings?????

Can I come and play with your fabric they look seriously great. Finally decent bright christmas fabric.... too bad I am over Christmas with Christmas in July in full swing at QFD. Must say I am partial to the birds too, I will try and stay away from Fat Quarter shop long enough to keep my obsession unfulfilled. I seriously overspent last month and heading into this month so I really need to pull my head in and put the visa in the freezer.

That fabric is so pretty that even I, as a non-sewer am tempted. It must be the same feeling I get when I see a new knitting pattern I just have to do. Or yummy yarn. Good luck finishing up your other projects!
