Kate's 15 minute challenge

My usual modus operandi for sewing malaise is to start something new because that always excites me.  So Saturday morning I wrote a list of all my WIP's to see if I could convince myself to squeeze something else in but all I ended up was horrified. I have eight WIPs in varying stages of not nearly finished . The sensible voice in my head has decreed I cant start anything else until I finish something old. (I hate that chick )  At this rate  I'll probably be finishing up my flower garden hexie quilt in the nursing home.

That didn't stop me from buying fabric last week.I'm counting that as a creative pursuit.

I  promised myself I could start one new project for any two things I finish and woke Saturday full of good intentions. Then I popped out to help Miss P furniture shop ....which turned into 4 hours of retail therapy where she didn't buy anything furniture wise but we can now both flash our new undies in public without fear of ridicule if necessary.

I also managed to come home with furniture. Can I count that as something sewing related?

The sleeping fairy sprinkled way too much fairy dust  about Saturday afternoon and sadly I fell asleep at tea time for a 5 hour Nanna nap. Technically I guess that's more of a coma than a nap.

Despite me mimicking Rip Van Winkle a  dozen hour glass blocks materialised this week.

And I did a load of prep for the next time motivation finds me

I spent some time playing with hexies

Lookeeeee here ...actual progress!

And I got some of my scraps out and threw them round my cutting table to make it look like I'd been incredibly busy and creative. It looks so realistic I almost fooled myself.

There you have it - the week that was. At least I found my sewing machine this week! Linking up with Kate and the gang over at Life in Pieces . Pop on over and look at all the sewing brilliance.

Whenever I get the urge to start something new, I make the logical reasoning (also called excuse) that my blog friends need to see a picture of something new instead of ones showing new steps done on already known projects....

Works every time.....

The hexies are looking fab. I want Nanna naps too. Do I have to reach Nanna status before I qualify?

My oh my! Such yumminess. Firstly, yes, the table counts as sewing related as you need somewhere to place your hexies whilst snuggled (or snoring) on the sofa. Hour-glass quilt (be still my beating heart... GORGEOUS!) Hexies - wow, no two fabrics the same? is that the plan with it? It looks fab and the colours all play so nicely off each other. New projects for old - sounds like a good idea - just wondering if you can actually do it (wink) before the pull of something new and exciting grabs your mojo. Hmmmm - you must have read my mind in any case as I've been working on hexies AND a WIP tonight having decided old projects must be completed before anything new commences!

Congrats on the progress you made this week.

You've inspired me to hunt out my hexies and see what I can do with them. Maybe that will keep my hands busy while I'm watching TV and I won't nibble !!!

What, no undies pics??? Looks good, I did an hour glass quilt top this past weekend and will post by tomorrow (it is teeny - those things take a long time!)

Looks like you had a good week. With 8 WIPs, at least you won't get bored. Love the hour glass blocks and your hexies. Both projects look great. Hope this next week is just as productive.

Who are you kidding, your nanna naps are exactly like a coma. I know, I've seen it!
Love those hourglass blocks they look beautiful. Such pretty fabric on these.
Didn't you just buy 23495874529 pairs of undies recently. You'll be able to wear a different pair every day of the year. Maybe even change twice a day! You could have at least modelled some of them..... on second thoughts maybe not.
Loving those hexies. Not bad progress considering most of the weekend you were either shopping or in a coma.

Your hourglass blocks are great! I might have to add some more to mine ... the hexies are great. I took a Nana nap on Saturday too .. but that was because I was up until 2 a.m. sewing binding.

I think you should start a new project .. why not? if it inspires you to sew ...

Funny, I was just thinking about undies this week and whether it'd be an appropriate "favorite thing" to blog about (I concluded not). This was prompted by finding my favorite pair in a certain style that I thought had disappeared into the black hole or alternate universe. Nope, just at the way, way bottom of the drawer.

Anyway, your various projects looks so bright and cheery. I especially love those hourglass blocks. My mojo has deserted me this week. It's probably out having a drink with yours. We should really give them a curfew, but they'd only laugh themselves silly, I suppose.

wow~!~that is a very convincing mess on your table there . . .
and you have quite a few shots of some pretty good progress so i'm thinking that despite the nap/coma you did pretty well.

your hexies are so bright and pretty.
do you think that there may be special nursing homes just for those of us still working on our hexie projects . . . think about it: there are lots of us quilters who have these projects going and they inevitably get laid to the side a bazillion times before completion (which by the way seems fairly rare). there stands to be some profit in it for some smart someone who creates the ultimate quilter's retreat/nursing home for all of us who are still dragging that one around when the time comes to put us quietly away . . .

You're doing better! Glad to hear your sewing machine still runs and you know how to cut with a rotary cutter still :)

well look at your sister. I think I will have to give myself a talking to as well. Maybe then I'll get something accomplished. Let me know when the underwear show takes place! LOL

Yes, the table counts. You can set sewing stuff on it! Where's the pictures of the undies???? Love the stiped hourglass blocks. Nana naps, hmmmm. Just yesterday I explained to 8 y/o Lily that babies and old people alike need naps. She looked skeptical. LOL

Love the colours in your hexies - working on that in the nursing home will keep a lot of people happy!
Pretty hour glass blocks and that table certainly is a sewing item.
Not sure your sewing table 'mess' would even come close to competing with mine, but it did help you make progress this week.

Loving those hourglass blocks!!! I'd be excited about working on those if I was you! And loving your hexis too! Happy funday undie day!! That coffee table is very important for placing cups of tea and threads etc whilst hand sewing!

I just ignore that bitch that says don't start something new which is probably the reason my sewing room looks like the fabric fairy has spewed up in it. Good progress regardless this week

You did more than I did, and I'm retired!
Love your hour glass blocks... so precise. Are you doing them with paper piecing?
Hugs!

I like your new furniture, very nice! It must be the weather i have been feeling like having a nanna nap every day this week :-)

Love the Hexies. I think I might have to try one of those Hourglass quilts.

Is it still considered a Nanna Nap if you're not a nanna yet? Because I've done a few of those in my time.

Your new table is beautiful!

And so is your new fabric! Awesome hourglass blocks! And I love your hexies. Someday, I just might try some. But first, I've got to get some WIPs done (that chick lives in my head too, and I can see her point).

Nicely done!
