In The Wars

It's been an interesting week. Indy starting hobbling last Monday but by Thursday he was his usual loopy, active self. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Lola managed to cut herself (who knows how) and is sporting a one inch war wound on her inner thigh and has managed to lick all the fur off the offending spot. One dog formerly hobbling - one dog sporting a bald patch and since I'm not about paying for my vets kids to do another skiing trip to Gstaad this year, they've both had to practice self healing.

While I was busy avoiding vet visits this week I needed a doctor's visit after one of my shoulders decided to start hurting over a week ago, for no good reason that I could see, progressively getting worse not better. Thus I have spent the last week off work ordered by my GP who also thoughtfully prescribed a really cool cocktail of anti inflammatory and pain killing type drugs which left me only able to play my Ipad one handed while laying on the lounge or in bed. My Pinterest account has been getting a real workout. If you follow me -I'm sorry about the 400 food pins that have popped up on your feed this week. It was either that or systematic phone calls to each of you boring you to death with the details of my malady.  Back to work tomorrow which is just as well because I've been completely bored out of my mind.

In other very exciting Maison Pyjamas news, Parents of Pyjamas have sold their house three hours drive north of where I live and are house hunting here in Adelaide. Let me tell you there is some utter garbage out there masquerading as livable abodes. And I really question some people's decorating taste (and I use that term very loosely) but on the positive side I have realised how unappreciative I've been about my little house and am therefore vowing not to move ...ever....which means Mr. P is doing the happy dance. He has moved once in his entire life and isn't keen to do it again.

I finally felt normal enough today to engage in some baking activity. And I was batting two for two - these both turned out perfectly ( perhaps the universe thought I was due for a win?)

Banana with Cinnamon Buttercream for Mr. P

And Chocolate Pound Cake for me because I don't do banana anything except actual fruit or paddle pops.

And for those of you that are having nightmares about the possibility of me doing a nudey run down Rundle Mall as per my vow here ...breathe easy because the Dresden is back from the quilting fairy and by my calculations I have about 6 weeks to get the binding on before I have to make good on my bet (despite the threat of our Finish Along Hostess, Katy,  to bring the deadline for the quarter forward in order to force me to flash my bits in public )

Sneak Peek for you all below. Its the least I can do since I've subjected you all to a mental image of me naked...

Hope you are all fit and raring to go again. Wouldn't want a shoulder injury to slow down the finishing of the dresden quilt and get the nudey run back on the agenda! Getting a bit nipply, I mean nippy here now!

Shoulder pain is the pits--and all too common. And while pain meds do the job, they are definitely incapacitating to those not used to them! Glad your folks are moving closer, it's great to be close to family. DH and I talk about moving but it is rather expensive around here and we may never do it, after 24 years in the same spot. The Dresden looks terrific and six weeks seems like plenty of time...

Aha! Nothing like proper incentive to get you motivated! Your quilt is looking wonderful! Sorry to hear about your shoulder issue. We always want time off, but not like that.:)

Glad to hear your shoulder is better. Your cakes look yummy. We've been trying to move to a nice house for a decent price, but one we looked at had the windows shot out on one side... not my kind of neighborhood! I hope your folks can find a nicer one. One more step on the
Dresden... you can do it, Shay!
Hugs

You have my complete sympathy on the shoulder issue, and I hope it feels much better soon.

Oh my gosh, the quilting on the Dresden is so sweet! Can't wait to see the whole shebang.

Your quilting fairy worked some beautiful magic on your Dresden. I can't wait to see the whole thing! And I knew you wouldn't make a statement about a shopping trip wearing only a feather boa if this quilt wasn't finished by the end of the quarter unless you had an ace up your sleeve.

Sorry about the pets. It is hard when they can't tell you what is wrong, or at least give you a pain level on a scale of 1 to 10.

And your shoulder -- what is up with that. Hope you're feeling better and whatever it was is gone.

xo -E

Well one recovered pup is great and it sounds as if you are on the mind as well. One more pup to go. Love your quilt and the quilting is so cute.

Sounds like you were all a bit sideways last week , Indie hobbling, Lola with a scratch and you with your shoulder. I hope alls well now. Looking for houses is painful enough. I love that you have cake in every one of your posts. That banana cake is making me hungry. I'm looking forward to the big reveal of your dresdan, the quilting looks wonderful!

Hope your shoulder is actually healed and you still have extra drug cocktail remaining. Add in cake and life is good.

Well done on the quilt, it's very pretty! Those cakes look good too. It's getting cooler here, snow fell an hour away at the weekend and last night was 2.9 deg......winter is fast approaching......

Did P. Send her shoulder problems down under to you? I hope your recovery is much more swift!

Also hope the dogs heal quickly as well.

And that Dresden is absolutely beautiful! Just lovely!

Hope the week off did some good and you are actually feeling better. Shoulder pain is not fun at all.

The baked goods look yummy, as does the quilting on the Dresden Plate. I'm sure you will finish it up with time to spare.

More food photos please and less talk about naked bits in public...its too cold for that Shay! Ha ha! Actually I am really happy to see your professionally quilted dresden, cos that gives me a idea of what I could do on my one! Not likely to achieve such a gorgeous looking daisy though. Perfect weather for binding, hope the shoulder doesn't object.

Wow, your quilting fairy sure knows how to work her magic, this will be gorgeous. Hope your shoulder is up to a little sewing.
Both those cakes look delicious.

Just been trying to comment on my phone but lost it so got off my fat rear to head to the computer. Shoulders are the pits, I can't say I head to the drs too often (if ever with my aches and pains) my remedial massage therapist usually tortures the pain out of me. She has given me a couple of stretching exercises that I do actually do occasionally and that helps ease shoulder pain... it is a combination of hand stitching and mouse work that does it for me. I have been home treating Coco's ear infections for a couple of years now, she usually gets them after she had a clip and groomer pluck her ears. It was costing a couple of hundred every time for cortisone (because she has skin allergies) and antibiotics I went to a Doggy Natropath she advised me what to use and changed the dogs diet to help with the allergies.

I'm glad your shoulder has improved, although I was hoping you could have some more time off.
I am going to have to kidnap that quilt, I was looking forward to the nudey run too!
You can make both of those cakes for me next time I'm down, or you could send them to me, that would be nice!
