Slow

Everything here seems to be moving very slowly of late. Except weekends - they always seem to be gone in the blink of an eye- what's up with that?

So, last week Indy decided to impale himself on a tree branch in our yard (you have to ask how that's even possible really) and we had to make another Sunday night trip to the vet. It was pretty nasty - the tree branch went in about 3 inches and ricocheted off his rib cage. Post surgery he enjoyed very cool drugs and tolerated the drain for 24 whole hours before he pulled it out meaning we had to do another unexpected vet run. At least he has a great near death story to tell the neighbourhood dogs.

In keeping with the slow theme of last week I've been busy hand stitching some more hexie flowers. 29 down ...20 to go.

I've been ignoring Superheroes 2 for the most part. I was sailing along beautifully with the inner quilting and now I'm doing the outer quilting it's giving me grief. It would really help me out if at least some of you could reassure me that you lose interest in a project when it isn't going according to plan. And I'm really hoping those puckers will magically disappear in the wash.

I've decided our guest room needs a makeover. I'm over the look of  black and white and have decided to go for something completely different. I'm desperate to start this quilt as part of the process but I've promised myself Superheroes and the large hexagon quilt need to be finished first. That's meant to motivate me but honestly it just feels like a punishment.

Inspired by this very clever lady who I intend to shamelessly copy
Little P came for a sleepover on Saturday and we made lamingtons together. If you look carefully you can see the dents where he was heavy handed with the cake while dipping. They still tasted awesome.

He had a crack at making jelly and had to wait all night for it to set properly.

Which was actually quite fortuitous because it meant he could eat his jelly on pancakes for breakfast. Ugh!

And we finally got round to planting the Hyacinth and Tulip bulbs and this was the look of disappointment  on his face when I told him it would be 12 weeks or more until the flowers appeared.

Hopefully I'll finish something this week .....

What a great face Little P has! How nice to have help in the kitchen!! Glad your Indy will be OK..is he a German Shorthair?? Pretty coat :-)

No wonder your weekends fly, so much to fit in. The jelly looks like a nice flavour and with pancakes...oh yum! Poor Indy. That happened to my friends dog a few years ago (exactly the same outcome). I hope he recovers soon so he can relate it to the other dogs.

That kid gets more adorable every week! I've written the book on losing interest in a project not going well. But I too will shamelessly copy that quilt! Thanks for sharing the idea.

Your poor dog.:( Love the large hexies. They almost make me want to want to dive in, but I really need to focus on one hand piecing project at a time I think. The key word being focus! I'm so glad you showed the puckers on the back of your quilt too. I thought I was the only one that got those kinds of results!

Poor Indy! Hope he has recovered well and you haven't had too many more vet visits! Nasty injury. I wonder how long 12 weeks is in kid time? I think anything longer than tomorrow is an eternity to them. I agree that weekend time is way faster than week/work time.

Oh dear, poor Indy! So now you have The Million Dollar Dog too? It's quite OK to lose interest in projects before they are finished, I do it all the time.......

Poor dog, I swear my vet just sees us and starts rubbing his hands in glee! I'm not sure that jelly on pancakes will be the big new thing but who knows Little P may be onto something! I love the look on his face and the slightly menacing tilt to his sword at the same time! Puckers schmuckers, the whole thing will just get all crinkly in the wash and you won't know. Push on to victory, be 'SuperStitcherSista' (trying to keep the superhero theme going there) and just finish that sucker!

That Little P is such a handsome young man, even with a scowl on his face.

Poor, poor Indy! I hope he's OK now. Pets are like members of the family, so I can imagine how hard that was for you. I hope you're OK too.

Your appliquéd hexies are so, so pretty! That quilt is going to be amazing.

And finally, sometimes a project just needs a time-out when it isn't behaving properly.

Things are moving so slowly here, too, except for weekends. I'm pretty sure it is a world-wide phenomenon.

What a great Bella you are! Priceless facial expressions. Something tells me that last one is very reminiscent of his mum....

Glad needle and thread met somewhere in your crazy life! That dog....

I try to have boring weekends to make them seenm slower but it doesn't work. I'm glad your pooch is alright after a few adventures. Little P is the cutest!! It's going to be fun seeing your guest room makeover, you always do such a great job of decorating.

Where did a see a photo of Indy was it facebook. I was scared that it was the dreaded bloat but I thought that the incision site was a bit off for that. Have had a GSP with bloat before and it isn't pretty, luckily it was before you needed to mortgage your house to pay for the vet. Hope she recovers well, your animals must be paying for your Vet's next house reno. Lots of slow here too.

Oh poor Indy. What a worry. I hate it when there's something wrong and you don't know how they are and if it will be alright. Hope Indy is up and around soon.

I know what you mean about everything moving slowly but the weekend. I was sure it was Wednesday .. but alas, it's only Wednesday where you are, only Tuesday here.

so sorry for Indy. How in the world did he do that to himself?? Is he now wearing the cone of shame to prevent him pulling the drain out/off. what is this drain stuff? my poor kitty had three at once.

So happy for you that little P was able to spend some time with you. Must have been a wonderful time and he is so cute!

I've got three projects in my closet waiting for me to get unbored with them. I can't even get myself to look at my sewing machine -- of course, it doesn't help that someone has it covered with papers and what not (though I confess he cleaned them up this weekend so no more excuses)...

Ouchies, poor Indy. Hope he's healed and back to doing his thing soon.

Your hexies are looking good. You've got some patience, my dear.

Little P is such a huggable little guy, isn't he?

Sounds like your dog and grandboy are keeping you busy. Sorry about the dog... was he running at the time? Ours chased sticks when thrown.
Jello on pancakes - that's a new one to me. And the pictures of his sweet little face are priceless! Thanks for sharing.

Poor pup! Hope the vet bill didn't cut too far into the vacation fund! Love that pink quilt!!

It seems there is never a dull moment at your house. Looks like a very colorful redo for your guest room.

Little P has a glorious smile and a very powerful pout. I bet he's hard to resist in either situation.

Love what you're going to shamelessly copy. I would too. Have fun decorating your guest room around that quilt. So many lovely ideas you're going to find on Pinterest :)

Hope the dog is doing better and the quilt decided to behave nicely.
Nice new quilt you have to look forward to.

gee you do have action packed weekends! I love the cooking action, he is sure to grow up to be a well adjusted young man with great food tastes!
Sorry about the vet bills, but I do think its funny you are making hexies the same colour as your dog!
Stuff finishing something that isnt working, go for new! Mind you I dont even try to wash out the puckers, for kids quilts, I just ignore them, kids dont care, so long as they can drag it around, they love it.

I love that kid! My favorite is the sword. He reminds me of Josh when he was little - always wanting to help, always carrying a weapon, and an extreme lover of sweets. That pancake looks like a four-year olds dream come true!

Poor Indy! Hope he's back to normal, I didn't realize that he punctured himself on a branch. :(

Love that quilt you're going to recreate! Maybe you'd feel more inspired all the way around if you started it, just a little. :)

Don´t worry about loosing interest in your quilts, happens to me all the time. I start something, halfway finished I decide it it quite boring and start something new. Oh well, such is life.
The new quilt you´re wanting to do is also on my wishlist :-) I have that picture saved on my Computer.
Ethan is just the cutest Little guy Thunmbs up!!!

So between the dog and the cat, do you have shares in that vet's yet? Or are you just funding the annual practice trip to Acapulco...

Jelly on pancakes. That's just wrong, and nasty and, I just can't go on...
