I stayed in my pyjamas all day
Saturday (and Sunday) which made it even easier to have my daily Nanna nap. Sometimes I wonder how I last a whole day
at work, in clothes fit for public consumption without falling asleep at my
desk.
On Thursday
morning I finished the tumbler cushion and it went off to it's new home as a
birthday gift for one of my favourite people. I really like the finish on this and I adore that fabric collection. It's the same fabric I'm making my grandmother's flower garden quilt out of. I know I did good because I made the birthday girl cry. Often that happens because I'm actually really sarcastic in real life but this time it was because I wasn't. I like to keep people on their toes.
Saturday night ,because I don't have any semblance of a life outside of sewing, napping or
working , I decided to stop ignoring the voices in my head that were
telling me to make a colour wheel quilt .Of course I had to do it MY way so I
made a colour bar instead.
And now the secret is out. The colour bar goes with this. An idea that I kind of , sort of, stole from Little Miss Sunshine from a conversation we had last week. I would like to point out that stealing ideas is the highest form of flattery.
And this past week the top for the Contrary HST quilt got finished and basted.
I started quilting but didn't get far before that went in the too hard basket. I decided to eat chocolate instead. It's a damn shame that's not an Olympic Sport.
Oh and Susan is encouraging me to start another quilt by sending me gorgeous patterns. Pop on over here to see what might be coming to a computer screen near you soon. I have the perfect fabric for this.Naturally.
I'm linking on up to Kate's 15 minute challenge. I'm pretty chuffed at what's been rolling out of my sewing room this week and who knows how long it'll last!
This is my 499th post so whatever pearl of wisdom pops out of my blog next is the big 500. Who would have thought I'd have so much to say?

There is no life besides quilting, working and napping! They go together so beautifully! The tumbler cushion is lovely and the fabric colours are very pretty.
You are still on a sewing roll! Look at the fab stuff you have been making. And making people cry too. Somehow I never expected you to be anything less than sarcastic in person and would have been very disappointed to hear otherwise.
Now go and make yourself a Stained. The cutting is the worst bit. The sewing together goes so fast it is amazing.
The HST's are looking beautiful already - how could you possibly leave them languishing in the too hard basket.
Oh I sewed on Saturday night too, after lunch and fabric shopping with a friend.
Look forward to seeing a new start here sometime soon.
Enjoying the look of the colour bar a Lot.
You're welcome!
Loving the colour wheel quilt, and I'm still procrastinating on how I'm going to make mine. Just like the jelly roll race which took me a week longer than you, lucky that wasn't an Olympic sport!
Loving the HST's, come on you can finish the quilting!!!!!!!!!
You make me cry regularly, but usually because I'm laughing so hard.
Wow you really don't have much spare time do you? I love reading your blogs, has it really been so many? Keep it up, looking forward to the next 500!
Tumblers seem to be all over blogworld don't they?
oooh, very nice eye candy in your post - love the contrary hst's - the colour combi is divine
I nearly missed the ps about the number of posts! What a chatty kathy you are!
499!! Wow good for you and us!! I am so glad you have so much to say..always an inspiration and always making me smile. Thanks for sharing so much- love all those quilts and especially the tumbler pillow-good job!!
You're sarcastic in real life? I would NEVER have guessed that. Hmmm.
Love the stuff rolling out of your sewing room too--the tumbler pillow is gorgeous and your basted quilt fab.
LOVE the cushion and the fabrics you used~!
i'm disapointed to hear that eating chocolate isn't an olympic event . . . i've been training since childhood for that one~! who decides what these "events" should be anyway~!?
your hst quilt looks really nice and if you're to the quilting part you're actually to the easy part. here's how it works: you get the piece to be quilted in your lap, get comfortable, make sure all of your supplies are handy (including some chocolate) and you quilt for 15 minutes or so. at this point you'll be feeling a wee bit satisfied about having gotten some stitches in (as well as meeting your 15 minute challenge for the day) and will need to celebrate by eating some chocolate. rinse and repeat at least twice if at all possible. at a certain point you will begin to be feeling veeery sssleeeeepy. you then lay your head back on a nice soft cushion (i know you have some pretty ones) and close your eyes and fall gently to sleep with the quilt on top of you. see, not so hard after all~!
btw:this works best if you're hand quilting.
happy may day~!

Nicely executed, my dear! And I, too, like to keep people on their toes.....keeps life entertaining!
Love your cushion! Don't you love it when you make people cry when you give them a fab gift? (Maybe I just like to make people cry?) I've got my 15 month old grandson all week, so I can barely come up for air, just dreaming of all the projects for next week, when I have my life back...
You really are on a roll, I don't believe you had any naps at all.. :)
Well I'd be proud of that cushion too - very nice indeed. The HST top is great too. I think you're galloping along with all your sewing.
I'm eagerly awaiting your 500th
Cheers
I love the tumbler cushion! It turned out so beautifully! Love those fabrics!
And wow! Love your color bar quilt! I can't wait to see it all together. I love rainbow-type things.
The HST quilt looks awesome, as well! Congrats on all the excellent sewing mojo you've got going on! I hope that it never runs out ;).

Wow, you have been busy. The pillow is lovely. The color bar is fun, but my favorite of this post is the Contray HST. Hopefully it will make it's way out of the too hard basket soon.
I love your color bar...and shouldn't that be the name of some kind of chocolate? I think you've got the wrapper design right there.
Okay, it's late and I'm hungry, what can I say? Whatever you're making has me intrigued. I can't wait to see how it comes together. And yeah, quilting something always has me fighting the "too hard" demons. Sometimes it's just best to walk away for a bit.
Lovely cushion. I can see why your friend loved it. You have been very busy and as for pj's mine are referred to round here as 'my uniform'. I wish chocolate eating was an olympic sport...I would be a gold medalist for sure!
Love love love all your work. How do you get any napping in? You're going for the stained glass quilt .. I love it too. I've been toying with making one.
I think there might be some cosmic something going on .. I'm on my 500th post too.
Very efficient use of time staying in your pj's...and comfy!...the tumbler cushion looks great...that is a shape that is on my "one day" list (it's a very looonnngggg list!!!)...loving the Contrary HST Quilt so far...but really when quilts give you a hard time there is nothing else for it but to go eat chocolate...oh if only chocolate eating was an Olympic sport, training would be no hardship at all!!!...
That colour bar quilt looks like its going to be gorgeous!
