Finished: Little P's Love U Quilt

I am proud and amazed to announce the finish of Little P's Love U quilt. About 30 minutes ago. Finally.

Little P has seen me working on this a few times over the past few months and every time he's grabbed it, cuddled into it and made "this is the best quilt you've ever made me Bella" noises. We've had a few conversations about the animals on the back while I've been working on it too. He particularly likes it when I make monkey noises. And grab under my own armpits like an orangutan. I wouldn't act like a wild stinky monkey for just anyone. This kid is special.

This quilt  is a Christmas present. I hope Little P gets excited when he sees it again  in a couple of months. It seems kinda weird to be sewing this in front of him then stashing it away.

That's another WIP off the list. Yay! And only 4 projects left on my "I have to finish this before the end of 2010"  list. I might just make it!

P.S. Yes I did hand binding again. All of you people who say hand sewing is restful are nuts. In the nicest possible way of course. Stone cold nuts.

Must admit I hate sewing on binding even though I love hand sewing.

Gorgeous quilt Mrs P! You need to try the machine sewn binding method I often mention on my blog - it's great for kids quilts! I'll send you an email with the link!!

Oooh I love it the colours and the piano key border are fabulous, and congrats on finally finishing it. I said I like hand basting, never said it was restful, thank you.

I thought I loved the front - until I saw the back! You did a beautiful job and he will love it -

I don't know anything about hand binding vs machine binding, but I think "love" quilt is a very appropriate description.

Very cute quilt. The bright colors are great. Of course you realize once he recognizes the quilt, he'll always associate it with your monkey impersonation.

Oh what a cheerful quilt. No wonder Little P likes it. He will be thrilled on Xmas. I like the bright colors - very good choice!!

Little P's wookie quilt..I can see him dragging this one around with him until he's 25 years old and it's just a strip of cloth that his new wife has to tear from his fists because he wont let go and she wont let it in the new house. Good stuff sis!

Oh it's what makes us all so different isn't it...hand sewing is a joy for me. I love the feel of the quilt on my lap, looking at the soon to be finished product!
I saw a tute on machine finishing the bindings, but can't remember where...he will love this!

Hand sewing IS restful. Sewing a never-ending binding onto a quilt that you have been working on forever and just want to be DONE WITH IT, not so restful. It looks wonderful, and I'm sure Little P will love it just as much two months from now. Ack! Two months!?! I need to get cracking on my own projects!!!

Nice finish! I love finishes! I used to think exactly the same way when people mentioned how lovely and relaxing hand stitching is. (I used to think they were off their meds!) That was used to. I don't know what happened, maybe I just hand sewed enough that it became easy and relaxing? Don't know, but I love it now. Of course, not binding! I have finished a couple of quilts lately with a machined binding. I like it!

Do not, I repeat DO. NOT. give in and go over to the dark side and do machine binding on special quilts like this {no matter how much you hate it}! It is OK for some things, but not for the really special ones. And this turned out SO gorgeous! I love, love, love it! Yay for you. Sorry about swiping your lime green thread. I'll have to make it up to you.

A.dor.a.ble! I hope we'll get a shot of that orangutan imitation, just for the memories, you know, not to make fun of you or anything! Congrats on completing this charming quilt.

Ah, how lovely. I jusr have this image of you ooh-ooh-oohing now though!
Hand sew a binding, no way! I did my first couple until I read some great tutorials and never looked back.

That quilt is just yummy! I love the blue and tangerine together. I'm not surprised Little P. loves it. Way to go on getting it finished. One thing about those really little guys is that two months is a long time to them, so I know he's going to be excited about his quilt.

As for the hand-sewing, you know I like it, but my mom totally agrees with you--despite the fact that she's done some beautiful applique.

It is awesome! I love all those fabrics, the animals, the alphabets, etc. Perfect quilt for a little boy. He is going to jump up and down and squeal like a monkey. Nice straight line quilting too!

Christmas comes way too many times lately - now you will be a little ready for the next one.
Enjoy

Mrs. P, this is a wonderful quilt. I love the colors on it. The back is great - you will be able to talk to him and tell him stories about the animals while he is falling asleep. He will love it for years and love you even more!

The Baby has her baby quilt and pillowcase at college with her. She stuffs it in her regular bed pillow and touches it at night when she goes to sleep.
