Cocktail Wednesday

I had a hard day at the office yesterday so I was really looking forward to the cocktail du jour picked by the delightful Little Miss Sunshine. Alcohol always helps you let go of the last vestiges of work day blerk. I'm dishing that little nugget of advice out for free.

After less than lovely cocktails for the last two weeks I was really hoping for something that I didn't want to spit out the second it hit my taste buds this week. Miss Sunshine did good. This one was deliciously refreshing and very more-ish. A perfect Summer cocktail well suited to 100 degree F day ( I think Spring has come all at once)  Disclaimer: It would be fairly easy to get shit faced on a bunch of these because they pretty much taste like cordial. Dont blame me if your day after starts with a headache.

I've seen this referred to as a Tiffany's Blue Cocktail and a Low Country Lemonade. Pick your favourite name- no matter what it's called it's worth making.

Collect your supplies:
30mls (1 oz) Peach Schnapps
Bubbly lemonade (you can use the fresh stuff if you must but aside from making it yourself you can't buy that Down Under so I just went with good old Sprite because I'd run out of Woodies )
A dash of Blue Curacao
Crushed ice

Add the schnapps and ice to a cocktail shaker and splash in just a drop or two or three of the blue curacao. Shake it up and get it nice and cold. Pour it into your glass and top with lemonade. You can fancy it up with a sugar rim if you want to make it look classy.

I made it twice because the first time I slipped over with the blue curacao and I'm all about getting it exactly right no matter how many times it takes where cocktails are concerned.  I thought the  hundreds and thousands added a nice burst of color around the rim.

My second attempt had much less Curacao and looked much more like the original picture. That's one big mo-fo sugar rim. Mr. P is much better at doing those than I am but he wasn't home to be wheedled into doing this for me.

Success! This one was a big 4/5 for me. Definitely on the "make it again" list!

I agree it was much better than the last two concoctions, but it was just a bit too sweet for me. It also doesn't help that I don't like lemonade and I could still taste it. I'm going to try again, using soda water, and see if that helps. It's a gorgeous colour though isn't it!
I'm loving these mid week drinkies sessions.

I am really loving your cocktail wednesday series!!! I'm taking a mixology class in a week (read: booze overload in one hour) and can't wait to try some new recipes!!

Love the multi coloured sprinkles rim. And the toilet cleaner blue cocktail looks more appealing than it should for some reason. Yay for a successful cocktail week.

It sure is pretty! I applaud you for plodding through to the second one to insure quality control. :D

Oh and peach schnapps is YUMMY! I knew you were on to something when I read that ingredient. :)

That one looks good, and yesterday was definitely the day for an ice cold cocktail. Stupid weather 38 degrees one day and back to 21 today with rain, it would drive you to drink - wait, it did! Love your commitment to re-mixing to get it right but I'm thinking the Woodies lemonade would be the finishing touch!

Definitely a winner! Nice beginning to my Thanksgiving weekend. Of course, now I'm too tired to start prepping for tomorrow's meal! Mind didn't look as pretty.

Another brilliant and decorative beverage. You are going to have to change your blog name soon, cocktail lady!

http://www.freebiesforcrafters.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/naughty-holiday-drinks.html is one blogpost I think you might be really interested in! There is another cute post on christmas craft you can make with corks, but that would mean you will have to start drinking wine...perhaps you could do that on a different night? ;)

Love the hundreds and thousands rim.

Very pretty, I like the dark blue one better. Of course it probably doesn't taste as good. Glad you found a winner this week.

(That comment from Cccan Server Cardsharing Server is the same one he left on my blog...gotta be trouble.)
Beautiful drink. Sounds delish, too. Thanks for sharing.

OMG I have just got over the turkey story and you hit me with your cocktail of the week....I have to say given the amounts of this stuff in each cocktail...like 30mls at a time you must have one hell of a booze cabinet to house all the ingredients....I am thinking next time the NTFW group are at your house I am claiming the spare bedroom so I can sample some of your concoctions and stay over 'cause I am pretty sure a couple of said concoctions would have me well over the limit....no drinkin' and drivin' for this granny!

Pretty cocktails. I like the second one best. It's subtle.

This looks cool and delish, and I don't even drink alcohol! I have never heard the term hundreds and thousands--we just call them sprinkles.
