I went back to working on a few things this week . My sewing ADD kicked into full gear over the weekend and I drifted from one thing to another quite happily.
I learned that the sky wont fall when I change my mind about a project. I'm pretty much over the string quilt blocks so I decided it was OK to finish that quilt at 48 x 60 inches for a lap throw instead of the mammoth 72 x 72 I originally planned. I'm 17 blocks from being able to put it together, having completed 10 more this week.
The reason for the change in the string selvage quilt was because I had the brilliant idea to make selvage star string blocks instead. This was my test block. I think a quilt made from these in all the colours of the rainbow will look gorgeous and much prettier than a plain string quilt. It's also a but more of a challenge for me. I could make plain string blocks in my sleep since I've probably made 1000 of them in my quilting lifetime.
Out of nowhere on Sunday I decided to make this for Rachael at Blue Mountain Daisy who has done a shout out for people to send her house blocks.
I stole the idea for this block from here. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.
And the tumbler quilt got basted, and is half quilted so I may even have another finish soon. Happy Days!
So I blitzed the weekly 15 minute challenge over at Kate's this week. Pop over and see how other crafty individuals spent their time.

Just love those string blocks...they will be gorgeous large, small or star shaped!
String blocks are a great way to use up odd bits......one of these days I will start some, my odd bits are just sitting staring at me.......
Busy girl, loving the string stars!
What's that saying? It's my quilt and I'll change it if I want to. Something like that. Anyway, 48" x 60" is a really great size and that string quilt is going to be awesome.
Speaking of strings, wow! I L.O.V.E. that string star. And I love anything rainbow-y, so that is going to be an amazing quilt!
Love that little house block! It is so cute!
And way to go on the tumbler quilt. I love those fabrics as well.

Lots of lovelies to look at! You've been busy.
Variety is the spice of life and your quilts are definitely spicy. Love the string quilt and your star block. The house block is darling. A great week.
Ooh, the selvage string stars are going to be awesome! Don't you love it when you change your mind for a "new and improved" idea? You're burning through the projects like a wildfire.
Does this mean you will be looking for more selvedges or do you have a healthy stockpile? The quilts are going to be gorgeous.
Show off. :P I hate string blocks with a passion - your stars look great, though. And fun house!
A String Stars quilt will look really cool!!! Hey you've surprised me with a house block!!! I love it!! It's so sunny and summery!! it seems as though you only started the Tumbler quilt last week, you've flown through that one. There's no flies on you Shay, that's for sure!!!
Love the string star block...a rainbow quilt of string star blocks, cool idea...will look fabulous...
Lovely on all counts - the tumblers look fabulous.
How cute is your little spring garden house!
String stars perfect.
Enjoy the variety.
Love the string quilt and the star looks fantastic. The chenille is on its way to you today, but don't hold your breath, I had a parcel take 4 days from brighton to my place so god knows how long it will take to get to your place.
Starry Strings is gorgeous! Love that house block too. Is your machine on fire from all the stitching? :) Happy Wednesday night!
Thank you for the smack upside the head I needed. I also have a string quilt that has been languishing because my plan meant more work and I no longer loved the quilt. After seeing your lovely string quilt, I realized that I didn't need to add sashing - it would look perfectly good without it and it's still going to be big enough to put on my bed. Your post might even result in THREE completed string quilts - yours, mine, and my mom's, since she just pulled her completed top out when I told her about your post.
I love all your Things you have going on, those stars will be a great use of selvages. I frequently change my projects midstream, I think its the way creativity flows, and want that stream of ideas to keep going! Thanks for the encouragement, you are inspiring ~

Terrific change of plans in the works--love the star blocks and the house block. And a quilt pinned and started quilting! I can't believe all you've gotten done---QADD has worked for you this week, and failed me entirely so far! Two nights in a row I sat on my butt in front of the TV, highly unusual for me. Keep going, mate!
I love your little house, especially how you stripped the background, and that the doorway is ladybugs! Sweet.
Size is a design element... you are just designing your strip quilt. Good Job!
Hugs!
Well look at you! You are just impressive. End of story.
