Favourite Things Friday

This week Friday seems to have appeared at the speed of light (which is far better than  feeling like I was living Tuesday over and over again and that Friday was never going to get here) I'm looking forward to the weekend and spending some time with Miss P and my sewing machine. I'm also counting down the days until I have a functional oven again. 7 - in case you're interested. What do you think the chances are of you all being bored senseless by multiple posts next weekend about cupcakes and woopie pies?

For my fave this week , I'm going down the chocolate road people. Get out your chux or steal a burp cloth from somewhere.

While I am not the rampant choco-phile I know some of you are , I do like my occasional forays into the land of brown yummy goodness. I can go for a month without capitulating but when I'm on a chocolate kick there are no holds barred. I'll eat it for breakfast , lunch and dinner if it's laying round. And if it's not-I'll go buy it .  It's like Woolies and Coles are my personal drug dealers.

I have a few favourites. Chokito's. Cherry Ripes. Rum and Raisin chocolate - but only Old Gold. But probably my most favourite are these little morsels of marvellous-ness. I feel slightly unpatriotic posting this because this is American chocolate. Made in America. Shipped all the way to Australia. Eaten by me.

I have managed to munch my way through two large bags of these this week. The closest thing we have to these are Smarties which are still not technically Australian and take forever to suck the coating off. I'm lazy. I don't like to put much effort in , so it's M and M's all the way for me. I should probably do a scientific experiment about the length of time it takes the sugar coating to dissolve on M and M's vs Smarties. I could probably get a grant to do that kind of research and become internationally famous.

That's it for this week. Simple chocolatey goodness.

Do you have something you'd like to share this week? Link away!

PS. I know I'm meant to traditionally write a BIG, EXCITING , MEANINGFUL post for my 500th.  But let's face it . All my posts are big, exciting and meaningful . It's pretty hard to top myself for special occasions.

  3. How sad is it that I live in the USA and much prefer Smarties which are not available here unless you happen to find them by chance. I grew up in Canada and have also lived in England and think that American chocolate can't compete. :-)

  4. Smarties have just never been the same since they removed most of the food colouring *sigh* ;o)

  5. Congratulations for the 500, I'm heading to 700 myself who knew I could talk so much crap. I'm on a chocolate ban at the moment but if it was in the house I'd just eat it hopeless I have no will power and I like m & m 's better than smarties too

My favourite thing about Friday is just that it is Friday....it seems like there are only two days in the week....Monday....and Friday....everything else is a blur!

I think 500 posts is prefect for sharing chocolate, and I had a mini bag of peanut M&M's myself today, gee, I think I was on the same wavelength with you...okay, any excuse is good for chocolate!

  11. I don't know which kind are your favorite but once I had the dark chocolate ones, the others just don't make the mark any more.

  12. Only smarties have the answer - or so the ad used to say. I've never been that keen on them myself, but I do love other chocolate far too much. Galaxy is my fav brand, ripple, minstrals, or just plain bars.

    Congrats on the 500!

  13. chokitos? Do they still exist? Yum. Love cherry ripes too. I remember cherry ripes when their wrappers were more orange than red and were paper with silver foil right around the bar. Those and white knights were my best.

  14. I cannot believe you don't have M&Ms. That tells me you are missing out on some other seriously bad ass chocolates on this side of the world!

    Poor, poor you! :)

  15. I'm with Tamie - the dark chocolate ones are superb, but then I like anything chocolate. In a pinch, I will even eat milk chocolate. Congrats on your 500th post - enjoy another M&M - life is too short not to!

  16. Chocolate is worth blogging about every day, right? I love the new pretzel M&Ms, have you got those too? Salty, crunchy, sweet and candy coated yum. Sadly, I can no longer overindulge in chocolate as it bothers my stomach.

I agree with your fine print disclosure of your awesomeness as a blogger!

  17. I thought M&Ms were made under licence here in Australia, but I could be wrong, and anyway, I only like the Peanut ones (which you don't get to have) or the Mini ones.
My favourite chocolates, in no particular order, are After Dinner Mints, Cadbury Peppermint, Cadbury Flake, Cadbury Crunchie, Cadbury Cherry Ripe, Nestle Peppermint Crisp, Kinder bars and Snickers bars.

  19. M's are good, more chocolate less candy than smarties.
Breakfast time is the best time for chocolate.
    Congratulations on 500 posts.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  20. Congratulations on 500 posts! Wohoo!

Also, it seems like forever that your oven has been broken, and it's not even my oven. Crossing my fingers for you and I can't wait to see the baking excellence you get up to next week :D.

I can't believe it is Friday either. I still have one more work-day to go and I only get one weekend day before it is back to work on Monday. Blech.

OK, down to serious business. M&M's. Yum! I love them plain. I love them with peanuts. I love them crunched up and sprinkled on top of the chocolate syrup I put on my chocolate ice cream. I love chocolate. Great favorite!
