15 Minutes a Day Challenge with Kate

I missed posting last week because aside from my quilting class on Saturday and Sunday I didn't manage to get diddly squat done (that means bugger all in Aussie )  for the rest of the week. I felt like I should go to confession except I'm not Catholic and I don't think God cares whether I sew or not when he has bigger fish to fry.  That's not me being irreverent about God - I'm being considerate. I don't want to waste his time with my whining when he has so many other important  things he needs to address.

This week has been about the same sewing wise. I didn't get 15 minutes a day done on any more than 4 days.

Last Tuesday I dropped two quilts off to the Quilter. While I talked creative process with Sharon (my uber cool help me because I'm sick of straight line quilting Quilting person) for about an hour I don't honestly feel right calling that 15 minutes of creativity. Maybe if I hadn't also gossiped at the same time and drank coffee I could have pretended it was a lot more creative.

Wednesday I pressed the strips for the Zig Zag Quilt . I actually thought I might get that put together last week but alas ..alack it was simply not fated.

Thursday and Friday I did absolutely nothing. Going to work just plain wore me out. Ive developed a really bad habit of falling asleep on the lounge at 9.30pm if I actually sit down at night. Do you think that's the first step to getting old. My Mum regales us with takes of how I used to fall face down asleep in my mashed potatoes at 6.30pm every night when I was 18 months old. Do I have that to look forward to again? Oops sorry - off on a tangent there.

Saturday - I made up Little P's new quilt top and sorted out a load of blocks for the zig zag quilt after I'd fixed the tension on the machine. I must admit this process was accompanied by lots of really bad swear words. At one point I even made myself blush. (A friend of mine assures me that when I say "freaking" everyone knows what I really mean and so it's as bad as saying the actual swear word. Is that true? Does that mean saying mofo is also banned?)

Sunday was a major activity day - I basted and quilted two quilts and cut binding strips for the aforementioned two quilts.

Monday - I made up the binding for both quilts .

I had high hopes for tonight but I've been faffing around making rocky road and fudge  and making up Easter bags for people at work. The big one on the back right  is for our marvellous administration staff who treat me royally and unfailingly do everything I ask them to do even when I need it done at very short notice. Those chicks rock and know all my secrets.

So all in all I made 4/7 this week. I'm hoping to get some slow sewing done over the weekend.  Yes I'm going to do some hand stitching....Be afraid , be very afraid.

For more creative genius pop on over to Kate's.

Blogger recognises bugger all as an actual legitimate spell check  word so I figure that's not swearing. Bugger would have been swearing 100 years ago...

You are hilarious, my friend! :o) You've packed more into your 4 15-minute days than I've done in the last two weeks. It's still impressive...swear words and all. ;o) Happy Tuesday night!

I did manage to do some handquilting for a 1/2 hour or so last night - but my finger is killing me today - so I have to take a break. You are so inspiring! Don't you LOVE the rolls of binding - all ready to pop on to the quilt? I do too! P.S. I wish I was a co-worker of yours, your bags looks fabulous!

I'm glad all you said was bugger all because I would blush half a continent away if I heard all the swear words accompanying your quilting, I think. Great job on all your quilting progress--even if you did more than 15 minutes on certain days. Can't wait to see how the zig zag quilt magically appears.

You are too funny, I say diddly squat at least once a day everyday! 'Cause it seems like I'm never getting anything done.

I love the red and white polka dot binding!

My 21 year old sister comes home from work in the afternoon just as I'm heading off and immediately falls asleep on the couch, so I would seriously doubt it's an age problem.

Actually getting buggered is definitely not my idea of fun (since it means up the bum) but it was on that Toyota ad, which makes it okay. I highly recommend anyone outside of Australia go to youtube and type in "toyota hilux bugger" if they want a little Australian word context.

I've done bugger all this week too - your 4/7 beats me hands down. Your goody bags look yum - why do I not work in your office? Work is a mojo killer... but your binding looks great all rolled up like that. At least you had the energy to bake, gossip and swear - pretty good going in my book.

Recently, some of my least favorite comments made to machines that won't make a stitch came back to me. It was all in fun, but there was significant embarassment that I'd said those things where my 13 year old could hear. Did it stop me? Hell no. Take care. Lane

As I said and wrote before - woman YOU AMAZE ME!!! You work close to full time and you get so much done in four days. Look at my three days--uuuhhhh - to you that would be half an afternoon. Amazing, amazing. Oh. by the way, how wide do you cut your binding? Mine is always too small...

I think you need to count the dropping the quilts off as 15 minutes of creativity. I mean, how would you get them done if you didn't take the time to drop them off? and it would be rude to just drop them and run. So it most definitely counts.

I am feeling like a slackard for not doing something for my office for Easter so you may have inspired me to do something.

You are just so generous, Shay! Your lucky co-workers will be able to enter their sugar coma way before Sunday!

I fall asleep at 9:30 every night and I don't even work full-time! I think Marg just plain wore you out :)

Did your fudge turn out? My turns out about half of the time, for whatever reason...

I would count making lots of yummy goodness like rocky road and fudge in your 15 min a day challenge, after all it is making something isn't it. Why didn't you make some while I was there, boo hoo, I wish I was one of your co workers.
I, for once didn't do bugger all this week, I have been on fire, which probably means next week I'll be doing diddly squat!

I think that you can rightly be proud of this week. So much better than last week, so it's all good. I was just at Pip's blog (restisnotidleness.blogspot.com) and she is planning for a huge easter sew-a-thon. That idea hadn't occurred to me, so now I'm busy pinning all my creative hopes on the loooooong weekend! (Five days this year!) Looking forward to it!

Those Easter bags look yummy!

I am amazed at the amount you DO get done, AND go to work amongst it all!

Love the spotty binding, x

I'm trying to figure out how you get so much done is such a short period of time. If you work in fast forward (which is the only thing I can think of), it's no wonder your conk out on the couch occassionally. To be at 4/7 this week means you made the challenge more than half of the week. That's success!

I agree with Thea, the time you take to drop off the quilts counts, you can't get them finished without that step.

Love the polka dot binding! And the Easter bags are fun. I should do something for work, but everyone is on a diet!

Well 4/7 is better than 0/7..at least you have your Priorities Right and have the Easter Eggs sorted...
cheers

You accomplished way more than I could even think about writing in a to-do list. Love the binding. Polka dots are my weakness. Happy Wednesday.

I think you made up for those other nights with all that quilting activity on the weekend.

The Easter goodies look delicious - lucky colleagues.

Four out of seven is not bad, especially in light of what you got done as per your previous post. And ooh, that red and white polka dot binding is so pretty!

So impressive! If that's an off week for you, I can't even imagine how much you get done when you're being "productive." Nice job!

Love the binding; Polka-dots are awesome!

Don't be too hard on yourself! You get an amazingly lot of things done. You are a rock star. Can't wait to see all the fun things you've been up to!
