Slack Tea Thursday

Here's this weeks STT story .  I know you all like a good story  to go along with whatever monstrosity I manage to churn out  for Slack Tea Thursday and if I just posted pictures without a tale there would be complaints. Or I'd be un-followed. Or get hate mail. OK, I'm taking poetic licence because you're all too classy to send hate mail. Except for someone named "anonymous" who keeps harassing me with comments about shoes, and chinese electronics and other odd things I can't mention on a blog that doesn't come with an adult content warning.

After work tonight  I had to go and get some batting for several quilty projects that are at the "I need batting stage", a canvas (more about that project over the weekend unless it goes horribly pear shaped and then you'll get a ranting type post  -the last time I used canvas and project in the same sentence, it cost me about 150 bucks and  it was an utter disaster ) and I went and got some scrap booking paper and spray glue  for another future project because since I was at Lincraft I figured I might as well. Before you ask-  No I am not decamping from the Quilting World  to try my hand at scrap booking. That's way too intricate for me, unlike my friend Nerida who reads my blog and makes very pretty cards from scrap booking stuff. (Waving at Nerida)  Far easier to hide your mistakes in a large quilt project thankyouverymuch. But let me just say I came home with twice as much scrap booking paper as I actually needed because it was so darn cute. See?

To top it all off I completely forgot about Father's Day which is this weekend which wouldn't be a problem if my Dad lived 5 minutes up the road but he doesn't and I rely on Australia Post to  get my tokens of love  to him on time - and I can hear all the Australian's laughing their arses off at this point because AP is so unreliable that I can get something sent from the US faster than I can receive something from the next suburb sometimes.  (I hope my dad doesn't read this - I know my Mum will but she can be trusted to keep her mouth shut and will admonish me privately and quietly, both for saying arse in a blog post and for forgetting I had a father who needed a gift until today,so I could show him how much I really do love him with a Visa Gift Card. Yes I am offically the world's worst daughter ) Anyway - said gift sorted and a 9 hour work day under my belt, and batting and canvas and scrap booking paper and glue  shopping sorted I turned what little attention I had left  to Slack Tea Thursday.

Crickets- I had nothing. I didn't even know what my own name was. And then light dawned.  I had something so perfect and quick and slack at home.

Good old Aussie chocolate and a mocha shot.

Who doesn't love a chocolate bar , or two , alright three for dinner?   And right now you're all wishing you were me and could have had chocolate for dinner but you had to be responsible adults and eat vegetables. Pftttttttttt.  Except for those of you that are reading this over breakfast and I hope you had Vegemite toast because Granola is blerk, even if it is healthy for you.

For those of you who asked for a reminder...don't forget Favourite Things Friday tomorrow, which might be the day after tomorrow for some of you, and is almost today for me , so that gives you plenty of time to come up with a favourite thing. It's so cool that my time zone is in the future.

P.S. I'm well aware I sound crazy ...it's Spring Fever you know. And if you think I'm crazy  now wait until the chocolate and mocha shot really kick in. I'll be prank emailing you all around 3 am my time because there's no way I'll be able to sleep...

  1. You are a LEGEND!!!!

You are so right about Australia Post, grrrrrrrr.

Ooh sounds like you are going to be very crafty over the next week or so, can't wait to see the results. I might possibly like to see the ranting post even more, although I don't wish your project to go pear shaped.

Chocolate, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Chokito, double mmmmmmmm. I was one of the responsible few that had vegetables for dinner, no chocolate, and I am having withdrawals. It doesn't help seeing a photo of three chocolate bars calling out to me from my computer screen, thanks!

  2. Well, really...what could be better than Chocolate? It ranks right up there with Skittles in my book. :o)

I featured you in my Thursday Concatenation. Drop by and see your blog in print! Happy Thursday/Friday!

  3. Okay, I love you Shay, dear but granola is good, especially when I make it. And vegemite? Well, I'm pretty sure it taste like ass. OR what I imagine ass tastes like.

There, now after you wipe the screen off after spitting out your coffee because I said "ass" in your comments, you can tell your mum you are the proper one of your blog friends and she shouldn't admonish you.

I love the new kitchen. I really want to cook in it. It beats last year's rental kitchen and this current rental's kitchen HANDS DOWN and really makes me miss a good kitchen to look at your photos so that's all I'll say about that. I will remain jealous from afar.

Hope everything is good with the family and I'll be in touch (email) soon... I promise.

  4. That dinner looks almost perfect. I got dinner out tonight as I had a late job, I didn't do main course though - in my family we have love the motto - 'Life's too short, eat dessert first!' So true to form I had dessert and then didn't have time for main - I'm so disappointed.
Scrap booking papers are almost as fun as fabric. Can't wait to see what you do with those.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  5. I'm glad Marg filled in the complete name of that chocolate bar for me, because I was reading it as "Choke It" and that just seemed...wrong. I mean, I know you Aussies have a sense of humor, but...

I envy you, Mrs. P. I think my days of being able to eat 3 chocolate bars and drink a mocha are gone forever. At this point, I'd probably need an insulin chaser if I attempted it. It's nice to live vicariously through your STTs.

  6. They make those scrapbooking papers cute on purpose. I bought a pack last week and I have never scrapbooked in my life. They were just sooooo cute. (My excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Bleechh!!! to slack tea thursday today. I have no problem with eating dessert first or even instead of (my kids often do!), but I'm not a dessert kind of gal. My chicken and veg were waaaay better!

Looking forward to fav things friday. Might even join in.

  7. I was kinda wondering how you were going to sleep!
I need to figure out how to imbed photos from the internet onto blog posts before tomorrow's "favorite things"...otherwise my favorite thing will be a hair waxing kit! :)
    seriously.

  8. Ny pre-diabetic self shudders at the thought of three chocolate bars. But I do indulge in one small Dove dark chocolate everyday. (The fat in the chocolate slows down absorption of the sugar.)

  9. Found your blog from another blog and love your sense of humor! I am following you now and maybe you can take a peek at my blog when you have a chance. Maybe I will stop by for Favourite Things Friday!!!!

  10. Oh, Ms. P, I"m so sorry (that's my Minnesota nice coming through) but to say that Veggiemite toast is better than granola is just WRONG! I've tried some of that bottom-of-the-barrell Veggiemite and it is simply God-awful to this American. My former Aussie SIL was never brave enough to try peanut butter and jelly sandwich but swore by the PB and cheese. What?

  11. I love that your time zone is in the future too. It is about 5:00 am on Friday where you live. I'm debating about posting my FTF on Thursday so I can be at the top of the Linky list. It's all ready to go.

  12. I'm pretty sure I would have loved to have been around you when the effects of this particular STT hit your system.
Somehow, I imagine it being even better than being your drinking buddy. Although, I would do that as well.

  13. You are hilarious and oh so naughty - chocolate for dinner! Although, if I worked a 9 hour day I would be tempted...

  15. "granola is blerk". I'm assuming "blerk" is the Aussie equivalent of "tastes like cardboard, coming out of a cardboard box, that was manufactured in a cardboard box, by cardboard boxes." If so, I agree 100%. Today for dinner (we Americans don't call it tea, but...same diff) I ate a little bag of gummy peach rings, some hazelnut and chocolate candy, and a bowl of popcorn, but I did throw some nutritional yeast on the popcorn to make it healthier.
