Life is Good

Spring has really sprung here at Maison Pyjamas. Less than two weeks ago I was lamenting the fact that our cherry tree (which didn't lose its all of its leaves until August - slacker! ) was still bare and barren. Today it looks like this which makes me happy because it means long, lazy, warm days will soon be a regular occurrence. I busted out a T-shirt this weekend and it felt sublime.

Saturday saw the Not The Farmers Wife Gals congregate at Loz's house for our monthly stitching party. Loz made me a very special cake to celebrate my birthday. Oreo Birthday biscuit cake ...How stinking cute is this? I have to tell you it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Seriously! Thankyou Loz for your thoughtfulness. (and the inevitable sugar rush. I didn't get to sleep until 3am)

I got all the remaining circles basted for my Moroccan Tile Quilt

and then started working on an idea I had for a re-do of that old cushion I inherited from my Mum recently. Remember this?

Kay (no blog) very kindly unpicked some stubborn remaining thread from the cushion cover for me. She said she likes unpicking - frankly I think she needs some sort of reality check medication- but who am I to argue with free unpicking? This cushion cover has been a source of great indecision for me but yesterday I decided to go with some large applique paisley shapes and lots of pretty embellishments.

But once I got it home - I didn't really like how it was panning out at all ...

So I went with one of my original ideas and spent Saturday night putting it together and I have to say I think I've made the right choice.

Sunday I finished my postage stamp donation quilt top - and then basted it - and quilted it - and put the binding on. Yep - Another finish, and my third donation quilt done for the Mary Potter Foundation.

I'm hoping to make some headway on the Moroccan Tile quilt this week as well as finish my two blocks for the Seabreeze Chocolate Marshmallow Sampler. Oh and I have to fit work in there somewhere as well. Looks like I have a busy week coming up!

Happy Spring! Love your cushion re-do. And the cake looks soooo good! I think I'll have to get in a cake-making mood.

What a perfect weekend, some garden gazing, lots of sewing, a fun finished cushion and a delicious looking cake!! Sublime is the right word for that first T-shirt wearing day of the season!

We are cooling down while you are warming up. Can't complain, highs in the mid 80's feel wonderful. Love the pillow redo, the banner works really well. Congrats on the finish too.

I love your revamped cushion! Yum, I think Loz knows the way to your heart! Good for you, finishing another charity quilt, huge effort getting it basted to binding in ONE day!! go Shay!

Love what you did with the cushion - lovely to see you on Saturday. I am not with you on the long days of summer though....my most un- favourite season and as I enjoyed my early morning walk this morning I can count down the days to next week when daylight saving arrives and I will be walking in the dark again! I will enjoy Spring and look forward to Autumn :)

Well done on the finishes! Our we-think-it's-an-apricot-tree lost its leaves a bit late.....has had only one blossom so far (but it never has many) and there is nary a leaf in sight, which isn't boding well.

Well look at you, you over-achiever! Must have been the oreo birthday cake that had you stitching like a demon. Love what you did with your cushion, perfect choice. Sad to say your tree has probably had every blossom stripped off it now after that god awful wind yesterday, at least you got a photo when it was at its best!

The cushion looks lovely, great final choice, I love the bunting.
How cool is that Oreo birthday cake, Loz certainly knows your food preferences!
I'm not looking forward to the humidity of summer, but it's definitely very nice this time of the year. The blossoms on the tree are so pretty.

The cushion turned out beautifully! I do like paisleys but glad the banners/flags won over. So cute. That tile quilt intrigues me more and more as I get glimpses of it in process. And your cherry tree, whoa, looks like it might be a bumper crop year!

Incredible cherry blossoms. Serious envy from up here where Spring only happens for a week each year. Very impressed with your sewing output. Well done!

Love the cushion, the weekend was beautiful and warm apart from the wind, I bet that knocked some of the blossom off.

Sounds like the perfect weekend! We are having a fantastic Indian Summer here, but it won't last long sadly.

That bloomin' cherry tree is gorgeous!
And it produces edible cherries to boot, yes? While mine blooms, it's simply ornamental.

I adore the pillow! Do you smile every time you take a peek at it? I know I would.

Sounds as though you had a wonderful weekend. Exactly what's needed to get you through the week. ;)

The cushion re-do is wonderful! Every now and then I think about redoing my cushions and then I don't. Maybe some day in a burst of energy I'll get to it! I am unpicking a quilt top now but I don't LIKE doing it.:) You have a great friend to do that for you!

Yay, bunting FTW!

You get spring and we get fall. Getting ready for the cold, blustery winter that is being forecast.

Your cushion redo is lovely.

God bless.
