A Finish or Two

Naturally chocolate featured in the plan for this past weekend. Mr. P and I spent Thursday night and Friday with Miss P and Little P ...an Easter egg hunt yielded a bounty of goodness and one very excited little boy.

We had breakfast with Mr. P's family on Friday and in the presence of very good company I finished Superheroes 1. Finally.

Excuse the cruddy photo. Its so overcast here today and I couldn't take this outside because the rubbish men are lurking round emptying bins and I'm still in my pyjamas. Without a bra. Very unattractive.

And then Friday afternoon we headed up to the river and spent some time with my parents for the rest of the long weekend. There was some retail therapy and plenty of sewing.

I made three needle books

Briar Rose got finished on Saturday and I'm doing the happy dance because I really like it a lot.

and on Sunday I indulged in some more retail therapy. It seems I'm on a roll with buying variegated threads but these were a bargain I couldn't resist at 20% off.

I started the baby quilt (the one I was supposed to have finished in March- nothing like leaving it till the last day of the month to make a start !). All the fabrics are cut for the front and back and the top is almost done.

Speaking of March goals, I may have finished two quilts in March (again - go me- I was starting to think I may not finish ANY quilts in 2013) but I kinda bombed on my actual goals for March. Hopeless! The chair is still mocking me, and I didn't get the top for Superheroes 2 finished although I did get the back done and surely that counts for something. I finished only 2/10 recycled shirt quilt blocks and the baby quilt didn't get finished either. Frankly making lists sucks, or I suck at finishing the things on my lists !

April Goals (I don't know why I bother ...seriously!)

1)Finish the baby quilt , top, back, quilting and binding.
2)Final 8 blocks of the recycled shirt quilt
3)Put the top together for the recycled shirt quilt
4)Finish superheroes 2 (top, quilting and binding )

I'm all about ignoring the chair for another month. It's not going to happen in April so I'm not going to pretend it is. Re-upholstering that chair terrifies me.

I hope everyone had a peaceful and happy Easter and isn't suffering from chocolate overload.

Looks like a great weekend! How fun that you got to spoil little P:)
I do wish, though, that there were pictures of the drinking games you always have fun with! I like to live vicariously through you (while ignoring my teetotoling in laws).

Great lot of sewing got done round your way. I did hardly anything but crochet till my fingers bled. Desperately trying to avoid all the chocolate that is hanging around here today.

Lovely finishes. Superheroes looks like a lot of fun, no wonder little P wanted one all his own. Briar rose turned out gorgeous.
Love the bright colours for the baby quilt.
Nice shopping.
Enjoy April.

I'm not sure it's possible to have chocolate overload.:) Love your Briar Rose--very sweet! Congrats on a couple of good finishes, esp. over the busy weekend!

Love the pictures! I think everyone in my neighborhood including the garbage men have seen me in my pajamas, sans bra!

Congrats on the finishes! Briar Rose looks gorgeous and Super Heros I looks pretty cool.

I almost finished the binding for Evening Star, but it was my turn to do the dishes after Sunday dinner.

Ha, now there was a cunning plan, get the kid on a sugar high, then bugger off up the river and leave his mother to deal!

Lists are over-rated. Look on them as a reminder of what job is next, not jobs that need to be done now! That chair will get covered when its turn comes, its just not its turn right now. Maybe in the middle of a filthy wet rainy June day (fingers crossed we get some by the way) you'll say 'bring it on!' but in the meantime I say sling a pretty quilt over it and forget its there!

I feel better if I think of lists as suggestions. I have a chair that scares me, too. And I only have to redo the seat.
Briar Rose is a LOVELY quilt.
Great post, Shay! I read every post you publish and feel bad that I don't leave more comments.

Your quilts look great! Two finishes, yipee for you! We tried to not over eat chocolate, but then won a easter raffle basket at school...sigh, someone has to eat all that chocolate! Didnt get near the machine (visitors) but did hand stitch...but so wish I had your retail therapy...all those goodies look...well GOOD! Lists are guides, you over achiever you!

Sounds like a brilliant, productive Easter. Where did you go up river and shop for quilt stuff? Didn't think there was anyone open up there anymore. I left and they closed their two best quilt shops! Little P is very cute. My boys complained of feeling a bit sick mid morning Sunday. Too much chocolate!

Easter + Chocolate? Perfect! Lil' P is learning about the good stuff from his Grammie! As far as the goals, hey it's a great practice to keep practicing, even if you miss sometimes. Good to see your fun shopping, too...I'll live vicariously~

I always worried about reupholstery, even after I'd done a few pieces. Then I bought a book and learned how easy it can be. God luck with the list. Lane

Looks like a wonderful weekend with lots of retail therapy. Love the concept. the fabrics and other things are very nice. the needle books are great, as is Briar Rose. i think it's great to do the lists, no matter how much you do or don't accomplish.

Congratulations on finishing 2 quilts !!!! Little P looks so cute with his chocolate pile, nice haul! And you found some great things too. The chair can wait for it's turn in the spotlight.

Little P is really growing up, isn't he! What fun to have an Easter egg hunt for him.
Way to go, 2 quilt finishes. You will be back to your prolific self before you know it. Despite your reservations about the quilting on Super Heroes 1, it looks awesome. I love the Briar Rose quilt too, it looks beautiful in that fabric. You will be sad to see it go, but it will make someone very happy.
I need to have a list for this month, I still can't decide what to work on.

Well done on finishing Superheroes 1..that in itself is worthy of a major happy dance session...and then you go and chuck in finishing Briar Rose as well....go you, two quilts done and dusted...and Briar Rose is absolutely gorgeous, love it...

The Easter bunny brought chocolate, of course, but also jelly beans, which made my kids scratch their heads - "doesn't the Easter Bunny know by now that we don't like jelly beans?" Ah, but I do, little grasshoppers! It isn't all about you! Love the finishes, especially Briar Rose!

Where to start? How about with Little P? I swear he gets cuter every time you post about him. He made quite an Easter haul.

Ka-Pow! The superheros quilt is awesome! I love it! Congrats on getting it done.

Your needle books are so fun, I love variegated thread, and retail therapy is the best kind :).

Your Briar Rose quilt came out beautifully! I love the soft, pretty colors! And the baby quilt is so birght and cheerful!

Well done. We all know you're a superhero yourself!
