Favourite Things Friday

The week has been made up of several golden mini moments which has made choosing a favourite for  this week more difficult than usual. I guess that means it's been a pretty good week.

My parents finally got Skype this week.  It's taken my Dad 18 months to hook up the webcam we gave him the Christmas before last. You cant rush these things.  May I remind you Dad that hooking up a web cam does not make you a surveillance expert or Bill Gates.   I don't care if you had a birthday this week , these delusions of grandeur simply have to stop.

I had a planned day off mid week which was lovely. I went picked up some US dollars at the bank. It's funny money -it's all one colour and made from paper which is totally different to Aussie money.  I'm not used to having to actually look at notes to work out how much they're worth. In Australia our money is different colours so I just open my purse and grab the purple one or the orangey red one.

In the last week or so I've received squishy mail of the exciting variety . Firstly from Amanda who knows  a girl who loves chenille can never have enough. See that pink swirly one? I actually squealed when I opened the package.

And secondly from Nanci , who very thoughtfully sent me these little gems in exchange for some fabrics I recently sent her. I love it when I see things I want to buy but don't and then they arrive in my post box anyway!

My apron tutorial was featured on Totally Tutorials this week. Normally I'm happy to hang round my own patch so it was a big stretch for me to put myself out there . I got such a thrill seeing my tutorial somewhere other than my own blog. Thank you Linda for suggesting I do it.

At the beginning of the year I talked about our planned verandah makeover. It's been slow going and we aren't finished yet.The garden bed and retaining wall are almost finished and I bought a couple of large cane swivel chairs for the veranda with the idea to recover them in gorgeous fabric, but they just never seemed quite right for that space.  I've been looking for an outdoor bench/seat that I can do something magnificent with for about three months and this week I finally found one.

This is my favourite thing this week. An antique miners couch.  Stay tuned to this space for the end result in a few weeks. It doesn't look like much right now but if the vision in my head can be translated to reality it's going to look utterly fabulous. I keep imagining myself curled up on that couch with a good book watching the world go by.

Enjoy your Friday. The weekend is almost here . Whooooooooo Hoooooooo! Oh and if you want to share your favourite thing this week you know the drill.

So much to comment on .. how wonderful to get fabrics from friends. What great friends, and chenille too.

Nice that your dad is on Skype. I haven't gotten into it yet. I've done it some, but don't love it, yet.

Love the new couch/chaise. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Hey...thank you so much for the description of the US money. I never have it in my hands long enough to remember what it looks like. And way to stay on your dad! For some reason, I have you pictured in your military garb giving him the, "what for"....and your miners couch...WOW!! I can picture it now...you, casually laying on your back while your hot little butler feeds you bon bons...yep....I can so picture it! XOXOOOOOOOO

What a cool favorite! You can do wonders with run down furniture so I'm sure the vision will turn out.

Happy Birthday Papa Pyjamas! Glad you got Skype up and running. Now the next step is to drive the kids batty by ringing them every time you see they are on the computer just to tell them they spend too much time on the computer and they should get off and be more productive! :)

I see a long flowing skirt, delicate sandals, and a glass of wine on the miner's bench....POP!...lol
And your dad may not like the idea of being on "tv" as my thoughts go to that getting older thing.
I totally agree with the american dollar thing...very thin in some instances too, not like the Aussie and Canadian dollars which can be laundered and still come out crisp...

so Shay, there are only 3 kinds (well maybe 4)kinds of US $$$ you need, VISA, MASTERCARD & AMERICAN EXPRESS -- plastic rules ... I'm not sure about everyone else but I never seem to be able to hold on to the real stuff for very long !!!

BTW, it's great you are on Totally Tutorials! Way to go. :)

When you talked about the Aussie money, a picture of "rainbow" money came to me!

I would NOT leave the miners couch on the back porch. I would paint it, cover it and put it in my bedroom!

You are such a lucky girl to get such goodies in the mail! Of course, you deserve all of it!

I didn't take any photos this week and can't seem to get it together to write, so I missedFTF this week.

I love your "Miner's Couch". I can't wait to see the finished patio redo. Thanks for always being there.

It's a good week when there are golden mini moments...hope your lurgy germs have totally gone as well...it's strange how other countries just don't have real money like we do! ha ha. Back in the dinosaur era when I was a bank officer foreign currency always felt like monopoly money, and it was so long ago it was when we still had money made out of paper!...I am in lurve with that miners couch, very much looking forward to seeing its transformation into utter gorgeousness...have a great week filled with more golden mini moments :)

You did have a great week. Mail goodies and a new couch. Looking forward to seeing your fully realized vision for it.

Sorry I've not linked up for a few weeks. There have been a few favorites, but Fridays have been busy the last couple of weeks.

I must have slept through Friday, because I totally missed this post.

That's funny that you think our money if funny. I lived in Brasil (as you might know) and their money was different colors too, but I still had to look to know how much they were worth. You must me a money prodigy.

Cute chenille! And I can't wait to see what fabulous thing you turn that miners couch into. It has potential and if anyone can make it fabulous, it is you!
