Favourite Things Friday

It would be so easy and obvious to do a post about my four day long weekend as my favourite thing for this week.  OK- I'm bragging. I had no intention of doing the long long weekend for my favourite thing . I just wanted you all to know I'm having one because it's the last one I'm going to have until October.

This weeks favourite is  something I collect . Something I find very hard to resist.  Something I have a lot of . And like shoes,  I think I collect these because no matter what your weight is - they still fit.

I've heard stories about people who only have one or two or possibly three of these. Really? I can't imagine what that must be like. Unless you only wear three colours how do you match your handbag to your outfit?

I have black bags  because they go with pretty much everything

Summer bags.

Serious brown bags...

Purple bags

Red...my favourite colour. I love that one on the lower left.

Getting girly for a bit of fun bags

 Classic grey

And my "I have to tote everything but the kitchen sink" bag

My favourite thing this week is my handbag collection. And in doing this post I've realised I don't have all that many, despite what Mr. P says when he opens the wardrobe,  so I may just pop out today and buy a new one.

If you have a favourite thing ,link on up so we can come and have a look at what you love.  And if you share my handbag obsession I'd love to know about it.

  1. Heh, I'm a bag-free freak! My mum tried, and failed, to persuade me I needed a handbag, so I just use my jacket pockets, soooo classy ;o)

  2. You and my daughter should team up as she has the shoes...Imelda Marcos is her nickname. Wow what a fantastic collection. I am a 'one bag' until I kill it kind of girl.

  3. Wow that really is a lot of bags!
I'm also a one-bag-til-I-kill-it kinda girl just like Michelle.
Perhaps we should start a club? lol

  9. Just shows how different we all are .. I'm a 'one bag until you kill it'. My daughters make up for it though. The younger one has more now than I've had in my entire life.

  10. I use to have lots of bag, now I have lots of bags that remain hidden. Can't believe last year I bought one on a whim and Squid outed me, to hubby. Love a good bag. Doing a bag making class with Nicole Malleleu in a few weeks I love bags so much. Great FTF.

  14. hmmm...ok..I'll leave another. :)
I am that person you said you'd heard about..the one with only 2 or 3 bags...

  15. I counted 27 bags--you are still short of a bag per day for the month, so I say you need another few. I did not see any tan or blue in your collection, right? Me, I use the same bag every day until it wears out, though I do have some specific outfits I have bags for. I'm feeling a little underdressed after looking at all of yours!

  16. I don't see any hand made handbags. You could make one... there are lots of patterns out there in blogland.
    Hugs!

  17. I'm a few-bags girl, and they're all made by me. My handbag is starting to reach the end of it's life though - it's starting to tear at the magnet clasp, but I'm super fond of this design and I can't remember how big I cut my rectangles, so I can't re-make it till I find the little piece of paper that has the info on it. Other than my main bag, I have a big travel bag and a medium gym bag, and the pub bag, which is my little bag that just holds my phone and my purse when I go to the pub. That's enough for me.

  18. I am a one bag girl, use it and then throw it away get another one. You have a lovely collection though, it would just be another decision I would have to make if I had that many.

  19. I love bags, too. Agreed- they always fit, no matter what you weigh! I like mine to add some color, though I bought my first neutral brown bag in awhile and it makes me feel very stylish and grown up ;)

  20. Can I call you a bag lady? You must have bags of fun collecting all those fabulous bags!! Later on I'll take a photo of my current bag to show you.. it'll make you laugh.

  21. You have a serious love of bags, Shay! :) The red one with the swirly thing on the front is super-cute. I'm boring. I have about 5 or 6 bags...all hand-me-downs from my sisters or MIL. I've yet to find the perfect bag, so they keep me in stock until then. :) Happy Saturday!

  22. I love bags, but tend to only use one at a time. I have made heaps of patchwork/quilted bags, but when they are handbags they dont stand up to the daily wear and tear :-(
so now I just stick to making bags to hold sewing stuff! I linked! :-)

  23. Closing my jaw because it just dropped open seeing all your bags. Wow, woman! You do have a nice variety, but where do you keep them all?

I am a one bagger. In the past, they have all been either black or dark brown shoulder bags, but currently I've got a pretty blue leather one, which, I might add was free. Marked down to $10 and I had a $10 off coupon. Boo-yah!

Obviously, I don't worry about matching anything.

  24. Yep. Let's start a club. I'm a one bag at a time person too. I thought I was weird, so thanks for this post Shay. Now I know I'm in good company! (Mostly I'm a one bag girl because I'm too lazy to empty out and change bags. Basically!)

  25. Thats not too many at all. Do you have any that haven't actually been used yet? I have a few of those (mainly expensive ones, that are still in their dustbags) tucked away in the wardrobe!

  26. When I worked outside the home, I had about 30 bags and about 60 pairs of shoes! Now that I am home most of the time, my bag collection is down to about 10 and shoes about 10 also! I love red purses and I agree about your favorite. I also love the straw purses!

  27. I love bags too. My problem is I have a hard time parting with them even when I don't carry them anymore. I'm partial to the red ones too even though I don't wear a lot of red.

  28. I'm with you on the bags. I don't have this many (who does?) but I loove bags and it could be the one thing that sends my husband over the edge!

  29. I am a one bag at a time till you kill it gal too, I think we are almost a majority now aren't we? I could never have that many bags I lose everything as it is with just one, I am going cold at the thought of having to search thru all those bags :-)

  30. You have some very cute bags. Me, I hate changing purses so I pretty much use the same one until something breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow you do have a few. How often do u change bags?

  32. I only have one handbag. It has everything I need in it; wallet, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, contact solution, contact case, tissues, tic-tacs, Tylenol, Advil (all in travel size) and a place for my cell phone and keys. I can't imagine having to swap all that stuff from one bag to the next every time I change my outfit and it would make me a little twitchy to keep a set of all of those things in every single handbag.

However, I have to say, having such a variety is really fun. I love that same red one you pointed out as one of your favorites.

Great FTF! Sorry I'm late commenting. I haven't commented on anything the last two weeks.

  33. Since you lied to me and said I didn't have a lot of pillowcases, I'm going to lie to you and say you don't have a lot of bags. That's what friends are for.
