Favourite Things Friday

Welcome to FTF for this week. You can show off one of your favourite things by writing your own post and linking up so wonderful people can troop over to your blog and have a look at something that's made your week a little brighter.  Today marks the one year anniversary of the start of FTF and I'd like to thank everyone who plays along, comments and drops by and visits. I love reading about your Favourite Things every week.

I'm not a knick knacky person. I like clean surfaces and lots of space. But occasionally I see something in my travels that I have to have and such was the case when I saw these two paper mache angels well over 15 years ago. The detail on these angels is amazing.

I can't even remember where I bought them now, but  I do recall how much they cost because for the time they were very expensive. Something about them really appealed to me and they came home and took up residence.

These angels have been watching over my household ever since. They're my own personal version of Gog and Magog from the Anne of Green Gables Series of books. (Does anyone else love those books as much as I do ?)

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and is looking forward to a weekend doing whatever you like to do to kick back and relax. The sewing room is calling my name and I'm planning a full day in there tomorrow.

  3. Yes, I love them. Read every one as I was growing up so I remember Gog and Magog !!I used to try and think up house names of two words that started with the same letter (Green Gables ) but didn't have much luck. Your angels look lovely.

  5. Yeah, I read them too! Of course, I pretty much spent my entire childhood laying down somewhere reading, so it would have been a surprise had I not read them.

My sewing room is calling me too. The sound is somewhat muffled by the stuff I have spread over it's surface, but that stuff is getting to be a smaller pile every day. A Saturday of sewing sounds just lovely to me!

  6. It always surprises me when I am winding down my Thursday and you are already living Friday! And guess what movie I just got from Netflix? You guessed it - Anne of Green Gables! Last summer I listened to the book in my sewing room. It was a childhood favorite for sure.
(my security word is "awful"; sounds like one of the stepsisters in Cinderella, doesn't it?)

  7. I love those books also. The movie was a disappointment as it made "things" up and wasn't true to the story.
I hope to sew this weekend as I have a costume to sew for my grand-daughter. Probably harder than doing some quilting.

  8. I loved Anne of Green Gables too. It was also my daughters favourite. I quite liked the series but I think mainly because I love the actress who played Mirilla.
    Your angels are lovely.

  10. Beautiful Angles. I can't remmeber if I've read Anne of Green Gables or not. I think so, but it would have been very long ago.

Happy one year anniversary of FTF. One of my favorite things each week is to check out what everyone posts for FTF.

  19. I've not read the books, either. I was into Edgar Allan Poe when I was young....and still am! FTF has become one of my favourite things to do on Friday night....This week it will stretch into the weekend, as I explore all the blogs. Your angels look lovely where you have them displayed.

  21. Your angels are truly lovely. I like how they are perched atop that chest, keeping watch over everything. ☺

My copy of Anne of Green Gables is collecting dust upon the shelf. I need to pull it down and read it to LittleGirl. I know she'd love it. Thanks for the reminder!

    Happy Friday night! ☺

  22. So glad I'm not the only who hasn't read Anne of Green Gables. Those are beautiful angels, though.

Happy Birthday, FTF! And wishing you a beautiful weekend!

  23. I've not read the books, but I've seen the entire series on PBS and loved it. Your angels are very beautiful and detailed. It's wonderful that you are still enjoying them, which means they were well worth whatever you paid!

  24. I'm not a knick-knacky kind of girl either, but those angels really are beautiful. Also, LOVE Anne of Green Gables (so many things in common!), but only vaguely remember Gog and Magog. It's been probably 20 years since I've read the books, though.

Anyway, great FTF. Those angels really are lovely
