Favourite Things Friday

Welcome to the linky love-fest that is FTF!  Favourite Things Friday is a little bright spot  in the Blogispehere where you get to show off one of your favourite things each week. I love seeing what's special to other people.  Just write your post and link it to the bottom of this one so we can all share your favourite thing. Then we'll all mosey on over to have a peek and leave you a comment.

It's been a musical week since I did a music therapy type workshop on Monday for work so I'm continuing the theme here. Music plays a big part in my life. I'd rather have the radio on than the TV, and one of my favourite things to do is to sing songs to Little P. His current favourites are Row Row Row Your Boat, with the crocodile scream at the end and Pop !  Goes the Weasel. The great thing about kids is they don't care how bad your singing is.

My IPOD  lives in my sewing room and when I'm sewing is almost always on. There are some truly tragic songs on that IPOD, according to Miss P ,  but it's my IPOD and I'll put questionable things on there if I want!

So today I'm going to assault your eardrums with a selection of songs from my IPOD.  Put it on in the background , go make a coffee or a cup of tea and listen while you're doing something you love.

This always makes me sing. Loudly  and badly.

My favourite song of ALL time.

Steve Winwood

Loved this song in my 20's!

The song Mr. P picked as our wedding song.

It's safe to say I adore Sting. The man is a musical genius. In other random musical facts, the last two CD's I bought were Best of Spandau Ballet last year and Pink "Funhouse" . I really like Top 40, anything 80's and I even have Michael Jackson and Enya.   Now you know all my dirty little secrets...

Have a fabulous Friday!

  1. Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger, I was going to do music, since I'm going to my first ever music festival this weekend. I planned on telling everyone how much I loved my mp3 folder on my computer, and the heady potential of a blank CD, and the kick arse sound system in my new car.

    Clearly we are too alike.

  2. I love to buy the current year Grammy Nominee Album from Itunes each year, it keeps my music a little more current and introduces me to new artists and new favorites - because all of us ladies of a certain age have those fabulous old favorites!

  3. Fun FTF! The Police (and Sting) are favorites in this house as well. I have to admit my IPOD Nano has a bit of Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Lover Boy and Joan Jett.
Both Kiddo and I like Pink, I just don't have her loaded up yet.

    Enjoy your 3 day weekend!

  4. I'm a Triple J girl myself, just got sick of listening to all the ads on the local radio station and reruns of Jimmy Barnes/Farnam etc so I have a aquired a taste for alternative music of late. when I was younger I loved Clannad which is a Irish band of Enya's relatives went to a few of their concerts as well. My Dad was a singer in the 60's, can't say that it rubbed off, though I can sort of hold a tune I would['t do so in public. My music collection is pretty mixed.

  5. Donna Summer always takes me right back to the sweaty, lighted disco dance floors of my late teens. Good times. Steve Winwood was definitely on my turntable (I'm that old) in my 20s, and Sting through my 30s and 40s. I find it fascinating to learn what people like to listen to, and equally what they don't like. For example, if you want to torture me, lock me in a room and play Enya or Sarah McLachlan nonstop.

  7. The radio is my constant companion - I listen to most music.
My personal music collection is mostly still on vinyl, just can't keep up with all the technology of today!

  8. You had me at Donna Summer! I love her. How about some old Boy George? (Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?) I am also a big lover of Marvin Gaye and Barry White! Love the old Beatles! The Baby grew up listening to my music and knows the words better than I do. We often listen to music in the car and rock out!

  9. I love music too but don't own an IPOD. Being deaf in one ear, stereo headphones do nothing for me! I listen to classic rock mostly when I sew.

Sting is one of my all time faves too! Fields of Gold is my very favorite song of his, but there are so many others.

  10. Music is an awesome, beautiful thing. The wide variety insures that there is something that appeals to everyone. I'm going to enjoy listening to your selections, Shay. Some of them I'm familiar with and will enjoy listening to again, and others I don't recognize.

Lately, I've been on a Led Zeppelin kick. Go figure.

  11. Ah, MUSIC! It's amazing how music can change your mood with just one song. While I do love my ipod, one of our local radio stations is like my ipod on perpetual shuffle. Gotta love it, and you never know what's going to come on next....

    Thanks for the great FTF!

  12. Every Little Thing She Does is one of my favorites too! And I really loved Angels Brought Me Here. Super romantic. Going to have to add it to my iPod, which happens to be my FTF this week. Your post reminded me that it was on my list of things to post about on Fridays. LOVE it! Thanks for hosting! FTF is one of the highlights of my week.
