Favourite Things Friday

Welcome to Favourite Things Friday for another week. I'm looking forward to seeing what creative and fabulous favourites people share this week.

Want to link up? Want to share your favourite thing this Friday? You can! It's as easy as writing a post  and linking up at the bottom of this post. Or you can just visit some of the other participants to have a squizz at their favourite things. Either way - you're in for some entertainment.

I'm late with FTF today . Little P and Miss P did a sleepover here last night so I'm up to my eyeballs in 18 month old distractions and vegemite toast and it was my nephew's 18th party last night  so all sorts of unusual things have been happening. Anyway ...

Confession Time. In this house we are partial to cartoons which is kind of odd since we dont have any young people living here. We plead guilty to immaturity in the Pyjamas house.

I'm not talking about Bugs Bunny , or Magilla Gorilla (Does anyone remember the Funky Phantom and Great Grape Ape?) I'm talking about adult cartoons that are shown , sometimes questionably, on public television.

Way back in 1987 it all started with the Simpsons.

The Simpsons has give us some great catch phrases that have made their way into popular culture including D'oh! and Marge's "grrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Then came South Park. I love South Park. Pure genius.

Favourite lines :"Those bastard's killed Kenny" , "Mmkay" and Cartman screaming 'Respect my authority!' Hilarious.
Futurama  - the story of a 21st century dude accidentally cryogenically frozen for 1000 years and then brought back to life.

American Dad - the story of an uptight CIA agent and his family, which includes an illegal alien (a real outer space alien - not the other kind )  Very funny.

Family Guy is the story of Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, their kids Meg , Chris and Stewie. They also have a talking dog who likes to drink cocktails, Brian. Stewie their one year old baby who is intent on world domination and is constantly plotting world domination and making death rays, and coming up with plans to kill his own mother. This family takes dysfunction to a whole new level.

Does anyone else love cartoons or do I have a serious problem?

  1. I'm not much of a cartoon watcher, but my (adult) children love all of those cartoons and I hear them repeating lines and all laughing uproariously - maybe I'm missing out.
P.S. I am so happy when I get home from work and you have posted.

  2. I don't watch many cartoons either, but if I do it will be one from your list of faves. They are such a brilliant satirical look at life today.
You have now found yourself a new fan as my teenager thinks that it is awesome that you watch all the same cartoons that she does!!!!

  3. I have all of Futurama and quite a bit of Family Guy. I'll watch the Simpsons if they're on the telly and I'm in front of it, but I never really got into South Park or American Dad.

I love the fact that the Futurama DVDs have commentary for every episode because I'm a huge DVD commentary fan.

  4. I love Family Guy and I used to watch South Park and the Simpsons. Now that I don't have TV, I don't watch those things, but I do love cartoons! I'm a HUGE Disney fan, especially!

  6. Stewie cracks me up. The guy can build death rays, but he can't use the toilet. My son watches that show a lot. I've watched some of them. I use to watch the Simpsons all the time. I've never watched the others. I do love cartoons, though.

  7. I used to be a big fan of South Park, I also love the "respect my authority" line! I havn't watched any of the other shows you mentioned. Not much of a TV person. Big has a lot of favorite shows, but I usually find something else to do while the TV is on.

I think it is very honest of you to admit you love cartoons!

  8. I used to watch The Simpsons from time to time years ago, but that's about it. I think I'd probably like Family Guy. Not a fan of South Park though, sorry.

  10. Don't mind futurarma, and the Simpsons is on at the moment but I am not watching it lol. Will try and join in today as I have 20 skirts to iron up hems and press waistbands and I am in avoidance, but have to do some photo research first.

  11. I'm not a cartoon watcher either, but my kids would watch Futuram and the Simpsons if I let them. I think it's still too over their heads.

Funny sidenote...Bart was banned from my high school. He was considered disrespectful, so no one was allowed to wear anything with the Simpsons depicted. :o)

Great favourite, Shay! Happy FTF! :o)

  13. I'm more the cheezy-type cartoon watcher, like Cars, Cloudy w/chance of meatballs, etc. Or the old classics like Cinderalla, Lady and the Tramp....stuff like that.

Whatever shows can "lighten up" your life (whether in PJs or not)....Go for it! It's important to laugh and keep the endorphins flowing!

  14. Add me to the "not much of a cartoon watcher" group. But my favorites are the classics, especially The Flintstones and The Jetsons (extreme opposites, I know...), and of course Bugs Bunny and friends.

  15. Well, you have a serious problem, but it's not the cartoon watching.
We used to be big Simpsons and South Park fans. We had to taper off when The Kids began getting old enough to understand it. Now, The Girl is a huge South Park fan, which has lead to some "interesting" conversations for sure.
Oh, and the only help for you is to invite The Family over to your reno'd house and let us stay a while. And I'm not talking about the Mob.

  17. Naw, I've never been much into cartoons, although my kids love the Simpsons and have watched that show for years.
I'm late posting today. I just didn't feel like doing much and will look at everyone tomorrow...I'm being a nurse and you know nurses just don't have much time to do anything but nurse! Poor poor patient!

  18. I am so late this Friday .. so late that it's actually Saturday, oops. Anyway .. I am a cartoon lover as well. I actually prefer Bugs Bunny and all the old cartoons .. however I am a closet Simpsons fan. Haven't gotten into the other adult cartoons, yet. I usually jump on the bandwagon when I can catch everything in re-runs.
