Australia Post still loves me...

So...I've had my glorious  three days off and I'm staring down the barrel of "back to reality" tomorrow.

I started writing a post about all the wonderful quilting type activity that went on at Maison Pyjamas over the last three days.  The fact you aren't reading that post signifies that I didn't actually finish anything to show off.   Rest assured significant progress was made. I got two quilts to the "I need to hand sew this binding on to the back of the quilt" stage.  Hopefully I can have them both finished by this time next week. That would be good for making a dent in my WIP list. I've just about given up on the windmill quilt since I've been doing everything I can to avoid it. I'm thinking about sealing it in a light proof airless box and pretending it doesn't exist.

At least the postie has been good to me.

I ordered some fabrics online a few weeks ago and this glorious stack of yumminess arrived in the mail late last week.    I've always wanted to make a black and white and red quilt and it looks like 2011 will be the year.

Vesuviusmama  recently went on a fabric buying spree and decided to share the love with a giveaway. All you had to do was guess how much she spent while she was going crazy buying practically  the entire contents of a quilt shop that was closing down. I won because I'm a maths genius.  These lovely 1/2 yards of fabric arrived in the mail last Friday. I'm thinking Dresden quilt fans for the Dresden quilt that is on my ever growing list of " must make this" quilts. Thank you Vesuviusmama.

And finally,  I got my first Christmas card this week from Aunty Henny  and tucked inside was this gorgeous Christmas mug rug. Now I can be all festive when I drink my coffee and tea at work (while I'm counting down the days until my holidays!) Thank you Helen. It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

Like the crew of the Flying Dutchman, I am forever doomed to be hand sewing binding to the backs of quilts this week. I hope your week is more exciting.

Loved that fabric... And loved that you got a lot done... BTW, about your windmill quilt... You could send it over to someone to finish it for you... A lot of people would be willing to do it (including me)... Maybe you'll like it then...

Love that red, black and white fabric - guess there won't be any un-love in that quilt.

Binding is okay in little bits - but I can't stop when I am that close to the end of a quilt.

Enjoy your Christmas Rug, and the count down to holidays.

Ooh...that black/white/red fabric is going to make one gorgeous quilt. I don't envy you the hand-sewing. Hope it goes very quickly. Perhaps you can pop in a movie while you stitch?

Glad to hear you had a great weekend! Enjoy that pretty mug rug too. What a nice gift!

Happy Monday/Tuesday! :o)

I loathe both hand sewing and binding with a fiery passion - I accept that they are necessary but I machine bind all my quilts because having to do them both at once would cause me to spontaneously explode.

My bundle of that fabric is still sitting forlornly in the corner while I think of something to do with it. And I've been distracted by the need for a work christmas party dress and 4 metres of hot pink satin backed shantung, so it's gunna be waiting for a while.

I too have a couple of quilts that need the binding handsewn down. It does feel good to get stuff done though - hoping to post myself later this week with lots of progress!
Maybe the windmill quilt will die from lack of air?

If you come finish my painting, I'll bind the quilts for you.

Lucky you! Glad you've gotten to the hand sewing part of the binding, so close to a finish you can taste it! Pretty wonderful giveaway you won there. I like that orange fabric lots. Who makes that one?

I need to make a bunch of mug rugs. Love the prints on yours!

Ooo love what the postie brought.
I'm currently at the hand sewing binding stage too, but I'm determined to finish it asap.
Do you call having a little Christmas melt down more exciting, that's what is happening here today. I'm wondering if I go into denial it will all go away.
I need to........ ............... .............. ............... ............. and lots more.

I LOVE red, black, and white quilts. In fact I have a lovely one that's been in the WIP pile for 2-3 years that needs to be sandwiched and quilted. Need to get my FMQ mojo back.

Congrats on the fabric win!

What a festive mug rug!

Your post was really good to you. Love the black and red fabrics, they will make a gorgeous quilt.

I've been sewing the binding onto the back of a quilt of like 2 weeks now. I guess it might get done if I'd actually sit down and work on it. Why can't binding sew itself on?

Ooh, pretty, pretty fabric! A black and white (and possibly red) quilt is on the to-do list for me too. I need to come up with a plan and then just do it already. Have a pattern but not sure it's the "right" one...maybe it's right enough though. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. Happy binding!
