This may be my slackest dinner yet...seriously. (Aside from that time I had a bad day at work and had Southern Comfort and Coke for dinner)
This week I'm bringing you a tutorial so you can all try this at home. I'm worried this recipe while slack is a bit complex without the pictures. I don't know if this is eaten in other countries, but it's really big here amongst the Primary School crowd. Or at least it was when I went to school in the dark ages prior to the invention of the wheel and fire.
Take two slices of ordinary white bread. (Dont try to health this up by using wholemeal or grain or your head will probably explode because you'll be defying the laws of nature)
Smother those slices with butter - I didn't say this was healthy.
Add chips...I chose chicken (bascially to annoy Ms. Chicken's Consigliere, who gets very upset every time I mention eating anything chicken...)
Smoosh it all together.
Voila... Dinner! Crunch that sammich!
Alternative dinner: Roll stuffed with twisties . Same principle. Just pull out the roll guts and stuff the twisties in.
Total investment in making dinner. Bread, butter and a pack of chips. Or one roll and a pack of twisties. Time commitment: two minutes including clean up. How good does this look? How slack ! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

My god that takes me back. Crescent roll and pkt of twisties was staple lunch at high school. Can't imagine that they have that these days with all food colour coded for its goodness. Maybe highschool is different but nothing like that at our primary school... can't say that I am against that though.
ReplyDeleteThe queen of slack. This is a winner! I agree it would be disgusting on "healthy" bread, it has to be white. What am I saying....I would never eat this, it ruins a perfectly good bag of chips. Mmmmmmm chicken thins, they are the best. mmmmmmmm.

crap....wish I had read this before I cooked up a storm for my dinner......toast with tomato is classed as cooking up a storm....isn't it? I agree the white bread is a must...the fresher the better....and lots of butter.....yummo! .....and has to be chicken chips....!

ReplyDeleteMrs. P, you always amaze me with your culinary skills. You should write a book! I have never heard of chicken flavored chips! They don't sound too appealing to me. I was just talking to The Baby about cheese sandwiches with chips - probably too much protein for you!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can buy "Chicken" chips in the US. What do they taste like? snicker. That sandwich should look revolting to me but it is strangely appealing.
ReplyDeleteOh my, this takes the cake! I do put chips on tuna salad sandwiches, but never thought to try them with just butter - hmmmmm. And the cheeto-surprise is hilarious! I'm trying to think what we eat here, that might seem weird to you Aussies - maybe fish tacos, although those are really from Mexico.

ReplyDeleteI am shaming the entire race of Fat Bottom Girls, when I say I have NEVER had a chip sandwich. My only wish is that I would go back in time to before the days when my stomach was the size of a thimble and give it a go!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up, I used to take a brown paper sack of mayonnaise(heavy on the mayo) sandwiches and a book and go climb a pepper tree. Picnic and book--yum. Of course, I did not know of the good ness of chicken chips at the time.
ReplyDeleteI think I read this post like three hours ago and got so sidetracked with The Chicken's blog and then with her daughter's blog that I'm finally getting back to commenting here. The chicken flavored chips, I'm interested in trying. On buttered bread? Not so much. I'm still rooting for a slack tea involving ice cream straight from the container with a plastic spoon.
ReplyDeleteOn a different topic, I was telling Mr. Bug about the post with the sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads and now my kids are putting frickin' lasers on everything. It would be funny, except I kind of object to my Little Bugs using the word frickin' because it is only a matter of time before they catch on to what that really means.
Anyway, I sent him a link to your translation Tuesdays posts. He was highly amused and last time I checked he was reading about the creepy crawlies and heading for the vegemite post, which was of great interest to him. LOL! Now that IS slack! I have put potato chips on sandwiches that had other things on them, but never just chips. Hmmmm. Chicken Chips, I've got to wonder....
