Mail Call

I really must try to get to the post office more often but since Australia Post work actual business hours and since (mostly ) I do too , that means getting into my local PO is a real pain some days.  At the moment having the postie drop my parcels off at my front door would be a real time saver for me. As it is,  I often don't get to the post office for a week or more at a time. (The whiny , pity party part of this post is now officially over )

Monday marked about 10 days since my last PO foray and my postage dude had a plethora of parcels and mail for me. He likes to guess what's in each parcel before he forks them over. It's become a ritual.

From the wonderful Susan at Canadian Abroad.

A closer look at her stiffy snowflakes (sorry that's an in joke ) Aren't they gorgeous ? I have coveted these from the very first second I saw them weeks ago and now I own some!

I adore hand made ornaments and these look gorgeous on my tree.

And from the delectable Sara over at Lone Sock Productions who knows about my fondness for all things Babushka.

My own little gym bag (that will never see the inside of a gym ) Hopefully the bag will be appeased if I drive past one occasionally.

This is what vacuum packed selvages look like when you unpack them. A mountain of selvages.

After these two parcels I'm officially in selvage heaven. A BIG thank you to Susan, Sara, Thea, Char, Michelle, P, and Kat  who kindly donated their selvages to my cause. I'm going to get cracking on that quilt while I'm on holidays. I cant wait !

And finally but not least -From Becks over at Sarcastic Quilter. Quilting Software so I can get creative while still sitting on my patootie. This may help me avoid future design disasters.

Thank you ladies. You made my week.

I now haven't officially cooked dinner for 7 days. Some one call the Guinness book of world records. I'm in the running for the title of slackest person on the planet.  Work is totally kicking my butt at the moment and I just don't have the reserves to cook when I get home. I'll be back on Friday (hopefully with my sanity intact -sort of ) for the final FTF for 2011. Hope to see you all there !

  1. I am hiding out on my bed after work today. My son has growing pains in his leg so I am latching onto that for my excuse to not to go to my hubby's department holiday dinner (after all, HE'S out of town -why should I have to go alone?) and for skipping karate. It is cold and I don't want to move. I gave my invalid son some ice for his leg, and some for his brother who somehow hurt the same leg just now (riiiiiight!), poppedbthem some popcorn and put in their latest Netflix movie. Meanwhile, I'm on my bed with chips and salsa giving you a run for your money on the slacker title. I need a cook. And a maid. And an accountant. And a masseuse. And the list goes on!

  2. My Bradley was rushing to get to the post office before 5pm last week and as he burst through the doors at 4:59pm was surprised to notice that they are open here until 7pm until Christmas. Very thoughtful.

Love the bounty of your postal booty. Looking forward to FTF!

  3. Pleased to put a smile on your face after such a busy couple of weeks. Slacker my arse! You work your butt off. Do you think my lot would be getting home cooking if I had to go out to an office all day, every day? I love them but I am not that dedicated!!

  4. And I thought I was whiny because my postlady has been delivering the mail after 3pm each day. We're spoiled with to-our-door delivery. What lovely packages you received! Can't wait to see what you design with your new info at hand, and do with that Babushka fabric.

PS...Homemade dinner is over-rated. I make it every night and my family could probably care less. ☺ Happy Tuesday!

  5. Slackest person on the planet, you have got to be joking. You may take a prize for slack tea week, but you definitely aren't a slacker. You work very hard and long hours and are the most conscientious person I know.

Look at all those lovely goodies you received, yay!

  6. One good thing about not visiting your post office all too frequently ~ the pile of really cool stuff waiting for you. No trickling in for you, no sir! And that is some neat stuff!

  7. Due to my slight ebay addiction, I go to the post office pretty much every day. They know me now.

Gym bags are known for their adaptability and ability to thrive in environments other than the gym. I have three that just sit on my shelf holding my undies, bras and socks, and they appear to be doing fine, having never seen even the outside of a gym.

I was actually going to use the babushka fabric to make the bag, but I didn't want to cut into it either.

    Glad you liked it all!

  8. What wonderful packages / surprises! Love those ornaments, the fabric and the selvages! Looking forward to seeing your selvage quilt! and the software .. hmm more designs.

I am way ahead of you in the slackness award. I think I went for about three weeks without making dinner this summer and as for cleaning .. it's getting so bad my dad is even picking up trash off the floor (another story).

oooh the final FTF. I better start thinking now.

  10. I have a quiet little suburban post office and I support it because I want it to stay there as there are NO long line ups and they are so nice. Looking forward to seeing your selvage creations even if it did result in me becoming addicted to Menz Chocolate froggys....

  12. hee hee Stiffy Snowflakes! Did you postie guess those? I love the pretty hearts. Such a lots of fabulous gifts. I know what you mean about cooking. I do easy dinners that last two days so I only have to think of what to make every second day. My laziness comes in the form of I couldn't be bothered getting takeaway. I sometime wish I could eat museli bars breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  13. Glad you received the software which was MONTHS late in being sent to you! I've never used it but I hope it's fun and easy.

I completely missed your post about selvages... I constantly throw mine out determined NOT to add a selvage quilt to my to do lists. :) Sorry or I'd have sent those along, too.

Can't wait to see your creations over your holiday!
